ལྟ་མཆོད་གཤོམ་འདི་འདི་འདྲས་རེད། འབྲས་སྤུངས་བློ་གསལ་གླིང་གི་ཨཱ་ནི་ཡིག་ཆ་གི་བདག་པོ་པཎ་ཆེན་བློ་བཟང་།

The altar we are making here is for the great scholar of Drépung Losel Ling, Penchen Lozang,

བསོད་ནམས། པཎ་ཆེན་བསོད་ནམས་གྲགས་པ། འང་དེ་ལ་སྔ་རྗེས་མཆོད་གཤོམ་ཡོད་མ་རེད།

it is for (the statue) of Penchen Sönam Drakpa, for whom we don't have an altar so far.

བྱས་ཙང་ད་ལྟ་མཆོད་གཤོམ་དེ་བརྐོས་རྒྱག་ནས་ཕར་མཆོད་གཤོམ་ཡག་པོ་ཞིག་བཟོ་གི་ཡོད་རེད།

The work is in progress, and we plan to make an excellent one.

དེ་གང་རེད་ཟེར་ན། དགོན་པ་སྤྱི་ཡི་མ་རེད། སྒེར་གྱིས་ལྟ་འདི་པ་སྦྱིན་བདག་འདོན་བྱས་འདི་འདྲས་བཟོ་གི་ཡོད་རེད།

This project was made possible with funding from individual donors without any funding from the monastery.

བྱས་ཙང་འདི་ག་རེད་ཟེར་ན་བློ་གསལ་གླིང་གི་ཡོད་ན་མེད་ནའི་ཡིག་ཆ་ཡི་བདག་པོ་པཎ་ཆེན་ཨཱ་ནི་བསོད་གྲགས་པ་འདི་འདྲ་སོང་ཙང་།

The main reason why we are making this altar is that Penchen Sönam Drakpa was a great master.

འདི་ལ་བལྟས་ནས་ལྟ་མཆོད་གཤོད་འདི་ལྟ་དམིགས་བསལ་གྱིས་སྤུས་དག་པོ་ཞིག་དང་། ཡག་པོ་ཞིག

Therefore we are making a special high-quality altar for him.

བརྐོས་རྒྱག་ཡག་འདི་འདྲས་རང་ཐུན་མོང་མ་ཡིན་པའི་སུ་གཅིག་ལ་མེད་པ་རྒྱག་ཡག་དང་། ཡག་པོ་བཟོ་ཡག་འདི་འདྲས་རེད།

We plan to carve a different altar that no one had before.

ལྟ་བརྐོས་ཟེར་མཁན་དེ་དང་པོ་རྒྱག་དུས་དེ་ཚོ་རི་མོ་འདི་སྦྱངས། རི་མོ་འདི་བྲིས།

Before you do wood carving, you need to master the decorative art and then draw it.

དེ་ནས་འདའི་ཁབ་འཚག་དེ་བརྒྱབ། ཨཱ་ནི་ཤིང་སྒང་ལ་གདབ་རྐྱལ་བརྡབས་བྱས་འདུག་སེ་བཟོ་རྒྱུ་རེད།

We then trace the design (on paper) and transfer it on the wood with the help of dapkyel (pouch with white powder).

ཨཱ་ནི་གཙོ་ཆེ་ཤོས་དེ་ད་རེས་པཎ་ཆེན་བསོད་ནམས་གྲགས་པའི་མཆོད་གཤོམ་བཟོ་ཡག་དེ་སྔས་མ་ལས་ཡག་ཏུ་གཏོང་ཡག་ཅིག་དང་།

The altar for Penchen Sönam Drakpa is going to be better than any existing one.

སྤུས་དག་པོ་ཡོང་ཡག རྦད་རྩེ་གྲ་གཅིག་བཟོ་ཡག་ཚང་མས་རེ་བ་བྱས་འདི་འདྲས་རེད་ཤག་ཟེར།

We all are hoping to create a great altar.

བྱས་ཙང་ང་ཚོས་འདིའི་ཐོག་ལ་ཡིན་ནའི་གང་ཡག་ཡག་དང་ག་ཚོད་ཀྱིས་གྲ་རྒྱས་རྒྱས་བཟོ་ཡག་གི་འཆར་གཞི་འདི་འདྲས་ཡོད་ཟེར།

The plan is to create one grand altar with elaborate carvings.

སོ་སོའི་ལག་རྩལ་ཡོད་པ་ལ་དཔག་པའི། བསམ་པ་རྣམ་དག་བཏོན་བྱས། འདི་འདྲས་བྱེད་ཡག་གི་འཆར་གཞི་ཡོད་ཟེར།

We will complete the project by bringing our best craftsmanship and with sincerity in our endeavors.

ལྟ་ལས་ཀ་འདི་བརྐོས་ཀྱི་ལས་ཀ་རེད།

This project is largely carving task.

ལྟ་མཆོད་གཤོམ་གྱི་བརྐོས་རྒྱག་ཡག་གི་རེད། ལྟ་དེ་ཡང་སྤུས་དག་པོ་དང་འདི་འདྲས་རྒྱག་དགོས་ཀྱི་ཡོད་རེད།

And the craftsman must produce the best carving that is possible.

ལྟ་བརྐོས་དེ་གང་རེད་ཟེར་ན་བཀྲ་ཤིས་རྟགས་བརྒྱད་ཟེར་མཁན་ཞིག་ཡོད་རེད་རི་མོ། འོ་འདི་འདྲས་རེད།

The motif he is carving now is called Trashi Takgyé, the eight auspicious symbols.

ཨཱ་ལྟ་རི་མོ་རྒྱས་པོ་ཞེ་པོ་ཡོད་རེད། བཀྲ་ཤིས་རྟགས་བརྒྱད་ཟེར། དེ་མིན་གྱི་འདི་ལ་ཡ་གྲབས་ཆས་ཟེར་ཡག་ར་པོ།

Trashi Takgyé is an elaborate motif and they are many other motifs.

ད་ག་ནང་བཞིན་གང་ཟེར་དགོས་ཀྱི་རེད། མཆོད་གཤོམ་སྒང་ལ་རྒྱ་ཕིབས་བཀབ་ཡག གཡས་གཡོན་གྱི་ཆུ་སྲིན་བཟོ་ཡག འོ་འདི་འདྲས་རེད་ལྟ།

Likewise, we also need to create roof cover for the altar, decorative water dragons on both sides of the altar, and many others.

རྒྱས་ཤིང་རྒྱས་པ་འདི་འདྲས་ཡོད་རེད།

They are many elaborate decorations.

ཨཱ་ནི་ལག་ཆ་དེ་ཚོའི་སྒང་གའི་མིང་གང་རེད། ལག་ཆ།

What are the names of those tools?

ལྟ་ཁ་ཤས་གསེག་གཅོད་རེད། ཁ་ཤས་གསེར་གསུམ་ཟེར་གྱི་རེད། སྣ་མིན་སྣ་ཚོགས་ཡོད་རེད། ལག་ཆ་འདི་པཱ།

Some of them are called sekchös (flat teeth tool), others are sersums. There are different varieties of tools.

ཨཱ་ནི་འབུར་ལེན། འདིའི་མིང་ལ་འབུར་ལེན་ཟེར་གྱི་རེད།

This one is called burlen (plane).

འདའི་འབུར་ལེན་སྣ་རིང་ཟེར་འདའི་ཡཱ།

This one is called burlen naring (long plane).

འདི་ཐེང་ཐོ་ཟེར། རིང་ཐུང་གཉིས་ཡོད་རེད།

This one is called tengto, and there is one shorter and longer version of it.
