Backstrap Loom

This is the most popular loom in Bhutan in the past and it has two tall shafts on which the warp is hung. The weaver sits in the front with a backstrap and weaves with the warp and weft on her lap. Thus, it is called 'lap-weaving'. The tradition is still popular and particularly used for weaving local textile of broad size.
