Size
The methods and concepts used for indicating size in traditional Bhutan are varied. For fields, the size is often measured through the duration it takes to plough it with a bullock or dig it by an average man. Size in terms of coverage are measured using lenght and width. Size in terms of height are indicated through average human height or height of farmhouse floor. Size in terms of volume are measured in terms of the type and size of the vessel or container. Bhutanese also have ways of indicating the significance of a person or a thing as the size of the value of a person or thing. A big man, like the use of the English word big, can refer not to the physical size but the social size or significance of the person.
