Posterior parietal cortex

The posterior parietal cortex is involved in higher-order functions such as sensorimotor integration, navigation, decision making, working memory and voluntary movement. The posterior parietal cortex sits between the visual cortex and somatosensory cortex. It is known as an associative cortex because it combines different types of information including somatosensory, auditory, visual and motor.  Area 5 of the posterior parietal cortex gets somatosensory input while area 7 gets already processed visual input from MT and V5.
