Sergi from Yurung village sings a Khoray song narrating her old age and how she suffered during childhood, coming from a poor background. The song is in Tshanglakha (Sharchop) and composed a long time ago, though its origins are unknown. The culture of singing a Khoray song is most popular in eastern Bhutan (Pemagatshel and Trashigang in particular). They sing Khoray songs when they feel bored, sad or tired while working in the field. Khoray songs are mostly emotional and sung by the old people of the village.
པདྨ་དགའ་ཚལ་རྫོང་ཁག་ གཡུ་རུང་གཡུས་ཚན་ལས་ གསེར་གུས་ཀྱིས་ གདུང་བསམ་པའི་ཁོ་རེ་ཅིག་འཐེན་མི་ནང་ ག་ཏ་དོང་ཏ་གཱོད་པ། །ཕུ་དང་རི་ཤ་མཐོང་ལ། །རང་ག་དྲིན་ཅན་ཕ་མ། །མིང་གིས་མཐོང་མོ་མ་ལ་ཟེར་ ཚེ་འདིའི་སྐྱེ་བའི་ཕམ་གཉིས་ཆ་ར་མེད་པའི་སྟབས་ཀྱིས་ སྐྱོ་བ་ལངས་ཏེ་འཐེན་པའི་གླུ་གཞས་ཅིག་ཨིན་མས། ཁོ་རེ་འཐེན་ནི་གི་སྲོལ་འདི་ མང་ཤོས་ཅིག་ ཤར་ཕྱོགས་ཁ་ཐུག་ བཀྲིས་སྒང་དང་པདྨ་དགའ་ཚལ་ལུ་ དར་ཁྱབ་སོང་ཡོདཔ་ད་ ཁོང་གིས་ དུས་ནམ་ར་འབད་རུང་ དབངཔོ་ངལ་སྡོད་པའི་སྐབས་དང་ སེམས་མ་དགའ་བའི་སྐབས་ དེ་ལས་ཞིང་ནང་ལཱ་འབད་དེ་འུ་སྡུག་པའི་སྐབས་སུ་འཐེནམ་ཨིན་མས། སྤྱིར་བཏང་ ཁོ་རེ་འདི་སྐྱོ་སི་སི་སྦེ་ མི་རྒས་ཤོས་ཚུ་གིས་འཐེན་དོ་ཡོདཔ་ད་ ཁོ་རེ་འདི་ ཤར་ཕྱོགས་རྫོང་ཁག་ནང་བཟུམ་སྦེ་ རྫོང་ཁག་གཞན་ཁར་ ཡོངས་གྲགས་སྦེ་འཐེན་སྲོལ་མེདཔ་ཨིན།

- གསེར་གུས་ Sergiཡ་ཡབ་ཆེན་ཨ་པ་ཡ་གི་ནེ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ནོ་ཝང་ཆོག་ཉི་གནང་ཤོ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། ། ཡ་ཡབ་ཆེན་ཨ་པ་ཡ་ཨིནམ་པ་ཅིན་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ཁ་ཅིག་སླབ་སྟེ་གནང་ད་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །If you are my great father, sa khoray! Please, do talk to me, sa khoray!
- གསེར་གུས་ Sergiཡ་ནུབ་ཏཱན་དེ་མཁན་ཟླ་བ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ཨ་མ་ད་བོ་མཐོང་ལ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། ། ཡ་ནུབ་ལུ་འགྱོ་མི་ཡ་ཟླ་ཝ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ཨ་མ་བཟུམ་སྦེ་མཐོངམ་མས་ཁོ་རེད། །The moon that is moving to the West, sa khoray! Seems like my mother, sa khoray!
- གསེར་གུས་ Sergiཡ་ཡུམ་ཆེན་ཨ་མ་ཡ་གི་ནེ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ཞལ་འཆེམས་གསུངས་ཐཱན་འབྱོན་ཤོ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། ། ཡ་ཡུམ་ཆེན་ཨ་མ་ཡ་ཨིནམ་པ་ཅིན་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ཞལ་འཆེམས་གསུངས་སྟེ་འབྱོན་ད་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །If you are my great mother, sa khoray! Please, tell me your last wish and go, sa khoray!
- གསེར་གུས་ Sergiཡ་ཕ་མ་ཐུར་ག་ཡ་ཝག་ཙ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་བསོད་ནམས་འདྲན་འདྲ་མ་ལ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། ། ཡ་ཕ་མ་གཅིག་གི་ཡ་ཨ་ལོ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་བསོད་ནམས་འདྲན་འདྲ་མིན་འདུག་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །Though we (children) are of same parents, sa khoray! We are of different luck, sa khoray!
- གསེར་གུས་ Sergiཡ་གོ་ག་ཐུར་ག་ཡ་གོ་ཐམ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ཟེ་མོ་ཆི་ལོ་ཨུན་ཅ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། ། ཡ་བྱ་མོ་གཅིག་གི་ཡ་སྒོང་རྡོག་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ཆུང་བ་ཆེ་བ་འོངམ་ཨིན་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །Though the eggs are of same hen, sa khoray! Those eggs are of different size, sa khoray!
- གསེར་གུས་ Sergiཡ་ཨ་སྐུ་ཆེན་ཡ་གསུང་ཆེན་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ཆོས་ཀ་སྙིང་པོ་གནང་ཤོ་ས་ཁོ་རེད། ། ཡ་ཨ་པ་སྐུ་ཆེན་ཡ་གསུང་ཆེན་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །ཡ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྙིང་པོ་གནང་ད་ས་ཁོ་རེད། །Oh! Father please, sa khoray! Devote truely to dharma (religion), sa khoray!
