Sangshing Dorji from Dechenling in Pemagatshel district narrates the story about the two kings Namzong and Gongdhu, who lived not far from each other and how the people of Dechenling lineage later came from the Namzong's descendents. The two kings were competing in wealth and power, but king Namzong couldn’t match his wealth and power to king Gondhu. King Namzong and his family fled to Kurtoe in Lhuntse district, and later king Namzong’s son Thepa Draktsang came to Dechenling and settled there. It is believed that the people of Dechenling came from the lineage of Thepa Draktsang.
