Tsangmo poetry does not have a specific way of beginning or ending. In fact, it depends on what the first person has to say. Tsangmo consists of couplets, and each couplet conveys particular feelings, such as love, hatred, mockery, and so forth. Usually a so-called “tsangmo competition” begins with befriending couplets, or “nyen lu,” and end in a similar fashion. In this video, Tshering Dema and Pema Lhamo observe this norm in their performance of tsangmo.

- པངྨ་ལྷམོ།Pema Lham གདན་ཅུང་ཁ་གང་གྲུ་བཞི། །སྡོད་ན་ང་ཡང་མི་ཤོང་། ། དགའ་ན་ཁྱོད་ཡང་ལོག་ཤོག །མཆོད་བཤམ་ལ་ང་ཤོང་སྡོད་གེ །a square mattress measuring of 90 cm, won't even accomodate me if i sit on it. if you love me then come back, we shall accomodate in the altar
- ཚེ་རིང་སྒྲོལམོ།Tshering Demརྒྱ་ནག་རྟིང་ལས་འཐོན་མི། །གསེར་སྐུ་ཕྱག་ན་རྡོ་རྗེ། ། ཁྱོད་ནི་སྦྱིན་རླབས་ཆེ་རུང་། །ང་ནི་ལ་ཕྱག་དབང་མི་ཞུ། །the thing that comes from china, the golden statue of chana dorji, even if your boon is great, I would not bow for your blessing.
- པངྨ་ལྷམོ།Pema Lhamབྲའི་རྟེན་(མཆོད་རྟེན)མི་བཞེངས་གུ་བཞེངས། །བྲག་གི་སྐེད་པ་བཞེངས་ཡོད། ། བསྐོར་ལམ་བྲག་གི་བཅད་ཚེ། །བསྐོར་ར་རྐྱབ་དགོ་མ་བདེ། །of all the comfortable places to build, the stupa built on the edge of the cliff, the circumbulating path being obstructed by the cliff, too bad, it makes it difficult to circumbulate.
- ཚེ་རིང་སྒྲོལམོ།Tshering Demཡར་ཡར་ལུང་པའི་ཕུག་ལུ། །ལྷ་བསངས་བཏང་དགོ་མནོ་བ། ། དཔེ་ཆ་རླུང་གིས་གཡབ་ཚེ། །བཏང་བཏང་འདྲཝ་ར་མིན་འདུག །High above in the high hills, even if I wish to make ritual offerings to the gods, when the ritual text is blown away by the wind, I don't think that I can perform the ritual.
- པངྨ་ལྷམོ།Pema Lhamཁམས་དོ་ཁ་ལ་ཞིམ་བས། །མིག་ཏོ་མིག་ལ་མཛེས་པས། ། ཁམས་ཤིང་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་རྩ་བ། །མགུ་མཇུག་ལ་རྐྱབ་རུང་མི་འགྱུར། །The peach tastes good in the mouth, and the flower looks beautiful to the eye, and so beneath the tree , I wouldn't change even when you are put it up side down.
