Video Overview
Tashi Nam from Nyingshingborang village in Norboogang Gewog (county) in Pemagatshel Dzongkhag (district), sings a song called "Gawai Nyima Sharshong". It is believed to be composed by Tashi Penjor in the late 1990s. The song has become especially popular during the era of the fourth king of Bhutan, with students performing it in his presence on many occasions. Parts of the lyrics are very patriotic, praising both the Je Khenpo (chief religious abbot) and the King for maintaining a magnificent peace and harmony in the country.
