Tsangmo is a poetic song that expresses feelings between two individuals. It has different classifications based on the nature of the feeling expressed, such as love, sadness, hatred, anger, etc. In the past this kind of song was often performed as a verbal exchange between a man and a women, or collectively in a group, while today its performance can take the form of an exchange between two groups. In this video, Namgay Dema from Zham in Lhuntse Dzongkhag (district) sings a variety of tsangmo popular in her village. Tsangmo is exclusively sung, never accompanied by dance.
