Vishwa Karma Puja is a festival dedicated to the Lord of Creation Vishwakarma, the main architect of the universe according to the Hindu mythology. Engineers and architects worship Vishwakarma. Once a year, on September 17^th, the puja, or ritual, is performed in work places, where a statue of Lord Vishwakarma is placed in front of machines, and all sort of equipment. It is believed that Lord Vishwakarma blesses machinery and that the businesses will prosper with the help of this puja. The statue of Lord Vishwakarma used in pujas is later thrown in the river. Bala Ram says that the reason for throwing the statue in the river is the impossibility of worshiping it daily.
