The song “Sun Rising from the East” (Sharle Sharwe Triduk), performed in this video by Leki Tshomo from Daagsa, Mongar, expresses sadness. The lyrics say the sun rising from the east is sad for it has never stopped circling the earth. The song also uses the image of river that runs down the mountains to express a similar predicament. In the last verse, it goes as far as to say that to be born is sad because there is nowhere to live. Without a place to live, a humble lady roams around a hamlet. The mention of a lady in the song is due to the fact that the singer is female; if the performer were male, the lyrics would be changed accordingly.
