Jigme narrates a story about a monkey who meditates and two other stories. The first story explains why we find monkeys on cliffs and crags. Monkeys live in cliffs and crags because Buddha asked them to meditate there. The second story explains why fish have big mouths. Once, Buddha asked the fish to come to his preaching, but they did not show up. Later on, they were harmed and attacked by humans, so they went to Buddha and asked him to preach again, but Buddha refused to do so. Crying, they went back to the water. Because they cried a lot, their mouths became bigger in size. In the third story, the Buddha entrusted the oxen with a message to humankind: they should wash three times in a day and eat twice. The oxen, however, ended up saying something different. They told humans to wash twice and eat three times a day. Because of this, Buddha sentenced the oxen to work for humans.

- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeཧེ་མ་(དང་པོ) སྤྱ་འདི་ག་དེ་སྦེ་སྡོད་༼བཞག་ནི་ཟེར་འབོཝ་ད༽ནི་ཟེརཝ་ད་ མཚམས་ནང་༼སྡོད་ནི་ མཚམས་ནང་༽ སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་མཚམས་ནང་༼སྡོད་ཟེར་ མཚམས་ནང་༽བཞག་ཡོདཔ་མས། Long ago when a monkey was asked how he want to stay, he answered that he want to stay in a meditation and he was kept in a meditation as asked by the buddha.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigme༼མཚམས་ནང་བཞག་སྟེ༽ཚར་ཅིག་འབདཝ་ད་ བུམོ་འཇའ་རིསམོ་གཅིག་ ཁོ་འབད་སར་ལྷོད་༼དེ༽ཡོདཔ་མས་ ཏེ་ མིང༼མི༽་དགོ་ང་ ༼མཚམས་ནང་ཨིན༽སངས་རྒྱས་༼ཀྱིས་བཀའ་ཨིན༽བཞིན་མཚམས་ནང་ཨིན During his stay in the hermitage, one day a beautiful girl arrived to him. Then a monkey said that he don't want and I am in the meditation as per the order of buddha.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeཏེ་མ་བཏུབ་པ་༼འགྲིགས་པ༽ སྤྱ་དང་མི་གཉིས་གཉེན་རྐྱབ་ནི་གུ་ལྷོད་ཡོདཔ་མས་ དེ་ལས་ གཉེན་བརྐྱབས་ཨ་ལོ་ལེ་ཤ་སྐྱེས་ དཔ་མས Due to disagreement a monkey and the human(girl) finally decided to get marry. After that they got married and gave birth to many children.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigme༼ཨ་ལོ་སྐྱེས་ཏེ༽ཨ་མའི་་ཁོངས་ལས་མི་དང་ ཨ་པའི་ཁོངས་ལས་སྤྱ་སྐྱེས་ཏེ་ དེ་་ལས་སྤྱ་གི་༼གིས༽ སངས་རྒྱས་ལུ་ ད་ག་ཅི་གི་ཡང་ལངས་༼ལང༽མི་ཚུགས་པས་ ག་དེ་འབདན་ན་༼ག་དེ་སྦེ་འབད་ན༽ཐིག་ཤོར༼འཐུས་ཤོར༽ཡི་ཟེར་ཞུ་ཡོདཔ་མས after the birth, a human child was born from mother side and a monkey from father side. At that time a monkey said to buddha "Now everything is not sufficient.What to do? I had failed."
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeཞུཝ་ད་ ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ཨ་ལོ་ཚུ་ག་ཅི་ཟ་བཅུག་ནི་ཟེརཝ་ད? ས་ཟ་བཅུག་ཟེར་ ས་ཡང་ཟ་ཚརཝ་ད་རྡོ་རྐྱངམ་གཅིག་ལུས་ཡོད་ ༼ཏེ་རྩ་ལས་རང་འབད་མི་ཚུགས་པས༽་ཟེརཝ་ད་ ཤིང་ཟ་བཅུག་ཟེར་ ཤིང་འདབས་མ་ཟ༼ཟཝ་ད་ ཤིང་གི་ཡང་ལང་མ་ཚུགས་པར་༽་ཟ་ཚར་ནུག After saying that, buddha asked what do you want your children to eat? The monkey replied, let them eat soil and the soil was all eaten and only stones were left behind. When buddha told not able to do anything, the monkey told let them eat tree. While eating leaves, even the tree were not sufficient.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeདེ་ལས་ སངས་རྒྱས་ལུ་ད་རུང་ཞུ་ཡོདཔ་མས་ ཤིང་གི་ཡང་ལངས༼ལང༽་མི་ཚུགས་ནི་མས་ཟེརཝ་ད་ལུ་ ༼དེ་ལསནི༽སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ ད༼ཡ༽་ཨ་ལོ་ཚུ་ག་ར་ན་༼ནཱ༽བཀུག་༼སྨ་རེ་ཟེར་ ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ཨ་ལོ་ཚུ་བཀུག་ ཏེ་ནཱ་ ད་ང་གིས་༽གི་ཆོས་༼ཅིག༽གནང་ནི་ཨིན་ཟེར་གསུང་ཡོདཔ་མས་ ༼སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱིས༽ The monkey again appealed to buddha, saying that tree will also not be suffficient. Then buddha asked him to summon all his children and told that he is going to bestow religious teaching.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeདེ་ལས་༼གསུང་ད་ལུ་ ཨ་ལོ་ཚུ་ག་ར་བཀུག་སྟེ་ ཏེ་ད་ལྟོ་༽ ཚེས་བཅུ་༼ཨིན་རུང་ ག་ཅི་ར་ཨིན་རུང་༽ ང་བཅས་ཀྱི་ བདུད་རྩི་ ཚེ་རིལ་ ཁྲུས་ཆུ་ གནང་དོ་བཟུམ་༼གནང་སྟེ༽ དེ་ལས་བཀུག་གནང་༼སྟེ༽ཡོདཔ་ད་ མཇུག་ལུ་ སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱིས་བཀྲིས་སྨོན་ལམ་གནང་ནུག། As asked by buddha the father monkey summon all his children. Buddha gave ambrosia, long life pills, and holy water in as we give now a days in Tsechu or whatever it is. Buddha ended the event by chanting the auspicious prayer.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeཏེ་ སྤྱ་གི་ཨ་ལོ་ཚུ་ག་ར་ གཉིད་ལོག་ལོགཔ་མས། དེ་ལས་ གཉིད་ཚོར་ད་ག་ར་ མི་ལུ་འགྱུར་ཡོདཔ་མས། All his children fell asleep. Then when they awoke from the sleep, they were all turned to the human being.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeམི་འགྱུར་འབདཝ་ད་ གཉིས་འབད་མི་ཅིག་ལུས་ཡོདཔ་མས་ ༼གཉིས་འབད་མི་ཅིག་ལུསཔ་ད་ལུ༽ ཡ་ ངིའི་ཨ་ལོ་གཉིས་ད་ལྟོ་ལྷོདཔ་མས་ སངས་རྒྱས་ཟེར་ཞུ་ད་ལུ When others turned to human being, two were left unchanged. So, the father monkey told to buddha that my two children are coming just now only.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeད་ ཆོས་གནང་ཚར་ཡི་༼ང་གིས་འདིན༽ ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ཨ་ལོ་གཉིས་ གཞན་ག་སྟེ་ལཱ་འབད་སར་ལས་ ལྷང་ཟ་ཟེར་སླབ་མས་ཟེར་ བཀའ་གནང་ཡོདཔ་མས། Then buddha said "I had finished giving religious teaching now." Tell your children to beg from the people and eat, ordered buddha.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeདེ་ལས་ ལྷང་ཟ་གསུང་མས་ཟེར་ ཡར་སོངམ་མས། དེ་ལས་ ཉ་འདི་ཚུ་ཡང་ ཧེ་མ་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཆོས་ཞུ་མ་རེད་ ༼ཤོག་ཟེར་ སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱིས་གསུང་༽ཡོདཔ་མས They left saying that buddha told them to beg and eat. Long ago fish were also asked to come and receive religious teaching.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeཉ་གི་ ང་རྒྱ་མཚོ་ཆེན་མོ་ནང་སྡོད་དོ་ཡོདཔ་ལས་ ང་ག་གི་ཟ་ནི་ ག་ཅི་གི་འཇིགས་པ་ཡང་མེད་ ཆོས་ཞུ་བ་མི་འོང་ཟེར་ཞུ་ཡོདཔ་མས། But the fish told that I am the one who live in a big ocean, who will eat me. I don't have any fear and didn't turned up for the religious teaching.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeཤུལ་ལས་འབདཝ་ད་ སེམས་ཅན་གྱི་ མི་གི་ བྱ་ཚུ་གི་ཟ་འདི་འབད་མ་ཚུགས་པ་ དེ་ལས་ སངས་རྒྱས་འབད་སར་༼ཆོས་ཞུ་བ་༽ འགྱོ་ ང་ཆོས་གཅིག་ཞུ་དགོ་པས་ སེམས་ཅན་ཚུ་གི་ཟ་འབད་མ་ཚུགས་ཟེར་ཞུ་ད་ Later when the animals, human and birds started to eat them. Due to unbearable attacks the fish went to buddha and said that he want to receive religious teaching as he is not able to bear the pain of eating fishes.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeང་གི་ཤོག་ཟེརཝ་ད་ ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་འོང་མ་བཏུབ་ ད་འབདན་ བྱ་ མི་དང་འབུབ་ཚུ་ག་ར་གི་ཁྱོད་ཟ་འོང་ ཆོས་ཚར་གཅིག་མ་གཏོགས་ ལོག་ལོག་གསུང་ནི་མས་ཟེར་ གསུངས་ཡོདཔ་མས I had asked you to come but you didn't came. Now you will be eaten by birds, human and insects and the teaching is given only once, not repeatedly, said buddha.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeདེ་སྦེ་གསུངསམ་ད་ སྔུ་སྟེ་ ལོག་ཆུ་ནང་ཡར་སོངཔ་མས། ད་ལྟོ་ ཉ་གི་ཁ་ཀ་བོར་ཀོ་བོར་ཡོད་མི་འདི་ སྔུ་འདི་འགྱོ་ཡོདཔ་ལས ཨིན་མས། when buddha said like that, the fish cried and went in the water. This is the reason for the fish to have a 'kabor kobor' mouth.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeདེ་ལས་ད་ལྟོ་ ༼ལཱ་འབད་དེ་ ཡ་བཏུབ་ཁྱོད་ཆ་ཁྱབ༽་ཆོས་འདི་ཚུ་གསུངས་ཚར་ཡི་ མི་འདི་ཚུ་ལུ་གོ་བརྡ་སྤྲོད་ནི་དོན་ལུ་ གླང་ཁྱོད་སོང་མ་རེད་ཟེར་ སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་གསུངས་ཡོདཔ་མས། Then buddha told that now all the teaching are taught. therefore, to interpret to the people about the teaching buddha asked ox to go and sent ox.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeམི་འདི་ཚུ་ལུ་ ཉིནམ་རེ་ནང་ ཆུ་ཚར་གསུམ་འཁྱུ་ ལྟོ་ཚར་གཉིས་ཟ་ཟེར་སླབ་མས་ཟེར་སླབ་བཏང་ཡོདཔ་མས། Ox was asked to convey the people to take bath thrice and eat meal twice a day.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeདེ་ལས་ གླང་འགྱོ་མི་འདི་ཚུ་ལུ་ ཉིནམ་རེ་ལུ་ལྟོ་ཚར་གསུམ་ཟ་ ཆུ་ཚར་གཉིས་ཆུ་ཟེར་གསུངས་དེ་མས་ སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཟེར་སླབ་ ལོག་སངས་རྒྱས་གཞུགས་སར་འགྱོ་ཡོདཔ་མས། Then the ox went and told the people that, buddha had told you all to have three meals a day and to take bath twice a day. After saying that ox returned to the residence of buddha.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeདེ་སྦེ་འགྱོ་ད་ སླབ་ཅི་ག་ཟེར་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་གསུངསམ་ད་ སླབ་ཅི་ཟེར་ཞུ་ ག་དེ་སླབ་ཅི་ཟེརཝ་ད་ ལྟོ་ཚར་གསུམ་ ཆུ་ཚར་གཉིས་འཁྱུ་སླབ་ཅི་ཟེར་ཞུ་ད་ while reaching there, did you tell? questioned buddha. Then the ox replied, yes I did. When buddha asked how did you tell them and the ox replied, I told them to have three meals a day and bath twice a day.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeའ་ འཛོལ་སོང་ཡི་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ མི་འདི་ཚུ་ག་དེ་སྦེ་ གསོ་ཚུགས་ནི་ ལྟོ་ཚར་གཉིས་ ཆུ་ཚར་གསུམ་འཁྱུ་ཟེར་སླབ་ སླབ་ཅི་མས་ ན་ཟེརཝ་ད་ གླང་གི་ང་གི་ལཱ་འབད་བྱིན་གེ་ཟེར་ ཁས་བླང་བསྒྲུབས་ཡོདཔ་མས oh you had mistaken. How people will rear themselves. When buddha told ox that I asked you to convey them to have meals twice a day and to bath thrice a day, the ox pledged to work.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeང་གི་ལཱ་འབད་བྱིན་གེ་ ཡ་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ལཱ་འབད་ནི་ཨིན་ན་ དེན(དེ་སྦེ་འབདབ་ཅིན)་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ལྟག་ཀོ་ཁར་ གཉའ་ཤིང་གཅིག་བྱིན་གེ་ཟེར་ གཉའ་ཤིང་བྱིན་མི་འདི་ཕགཔ་བཏང་ནུག I will work, said the ox. oh you will do work, then I will give one yoke for your neck. And the pig was sent to give yoke to the ox.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeགླང་གི་མི་སེར་ཚུ་ལུ་ ལཱ་འབད་ནི་སྦེ་ཁས་བླངས་བསྒྲུབས་ལས་ ཕགཔ་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ གཉའ་ཤིང་བརླུག་༼བླུག༽་མ་རེད་ཟེར་ ཕགཔ་གིས་གླང་གི་ལྟག་ཀོ་ཁར་ལུག༼བླུག༽་བྱིན་ཟེར་བཏང་ཡོདཔ་མས། The ox had pledged to work so, put this yoke on the ox neck and the pig was sent.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeཕགཔ་གིས་འབག་ གླང་གི་ལྟག་ཀོ་གུ་ ཨ་ཙི་ཅིག་རེག༼དབུར་བྱིན་ནུག༽ ཁོ་གི་ལྷ་པགུ་སྦྱར་བཞག་ནུག་ ད་རེས་ཕགཔ་གིས་ ས་རྡོ་ཚུ་ལྷ་པ་གི་ལོངས༼སློངས༽་ཚུགས་མི་འདི་ཨིན The pig took it, applied on the ox's neck and some was sticked on his own nose. Today pig can arouse the soil and stone all because of this reason.
- འཇིགས་མེད།/Jigmeདེ་ལས་ གླང་གི་ལྟག་ཀོ་ཁར་ཡང་ ཨ་ཙི་ཅིག་རེགཔ༼དབུར་བྱིནམ༽་ལས་ ད་རེས་ ལཱ་འབད་དགོ་མི་འདི་ཨིན། Then it was also applied on the ox's neck and this is the reason why today the ox have to work.
