In this video, Kinzang narrates “The Story of Four Family Members,” a fictional story that talks about pride. Four family members are the characters of this story —the father flour batter, the mother oil, the son ant and the daughter cotton. Because there was no electricity in the old days, people produced light from either a fire torch, or a corn cob. One day the son ant decided to go out to collect wood to serve as a torch. However, his parents were worried that he could get stuck in the sap, and advised him not to gather wood that contains sap. He reassured his parents that he would obey their instructions. Unfortunately, he got stuck in the sap and died. When he did not return home, sister cotton decided to look for her brother. However, she got blown away by the strong wind on the hills, having ignored her parents’ advice to travel through the valleys. Seeing that both of their children were not returning home, father flour batter decided to search for them. Unluckily, he rolled off down the cliff and died. The mother butter was in great despair and got melted while sitting next to a traditional mud oven. Thus, all of them died from unfortunate events, mostly when individual disregarded each other’s advice. Thus, the pride of father, son and daughter cost their lives.
