Sangay Phuntsho from Gangtokha in Tsirang Gewog (county) narrates a story of a father and a son. They were very poor and not even able to buy salt. The father and son discussed to bring and sow salt in the field. They did so but after a week they still saw no growth. They doubted animals might be eating their 'salt crops'. They inspected the field and found a grasshopper. They tried to shoot it but missed and it jumped onto the father's goiter. The son shot again but missed the grasshopper. Instead the arrow hit the father and he died.

- སངས་རྒྱས་ཕུན་ཚོགས། Sangay Phuntshoཧེ་མ་ཨ་པ་དང་བུ་གཅིག་སྡོད་ནུག། ཏེ་ཁོ་ལུ་ཚྭ་བཟའ་ནི་ལུ་བཀའ་ངལ་ཡོདཔ་མས་ཏི་རུ་མེད་པ། དེ་ལས་བུ་གི་སླབ་ནུག་ཨཔ་ཛཝཚྭ་འདི་ཞིང་ཁར་བཏབ་འབད་དེ་ལས་ལ་ལོ་བཙོང་འབད་གེ་ཟེར་སླབ་ནུག།Long ago, there lived a father and son. It was very long ago. Before when they bought salt and consumed, they faced problem because they didn’t had money. And son told to father “father, to buy salt every time would cause money problem. Instead, let’s plough and sow salt. If we do so, we will have enough salt to consume as well as sell. This is what I have to discuss with you”
- སངས་རྒྱས་ཕུན་ཚོགས། Sangay Phuntshoདེ་ལས་ཨཔ་གི་ཡང་བཏུབ་ཟེར་སླབ་འབད། ཚྭ་པེ་ཅི་གང་འབག་འབད་ཞིང་ཁར་བཏབ་ནུག། དེ་དུན་ཕྲག་གཅིག་གི་ཤུལ་ལས་ཚྭ་སྐྱེ་ནི་མེད་པར་ཨཔ་དང་བུ་ཞིང་ཁར་སོང་འབད་བཏའབ་ད། སྤྱིབ་དབ་གཅིག་ཐོང་ནུག། དེ་ལས་ཨ་པ་འདི་དི་ཚྭ་མ་སྐྱེ་མི་འདི་ཁོ་གི་བཟའ་དོ་ཡོདཔ་མས་མནོ་འདི་བུ་ལུ་སླབ་ནུག། ཁྱིམ་ནང་འགྱོ་འབད་མདའ་དང་ཞུ་འབག་ཤོས་ང་ཁོ་མདའ་རྐྱབ་བསད་ནི།Father responded “oh! Yes. You are right indeed”. So they brought and sow salt in the field. Salt made no procession in growing and it has been a week then. And father said, “Son, it has been almost a week yet it is not growing. There must be some animal eating. I will look go around and inspect” and went into field inspecting. There he found Grasshopper and he said “son, the reason behind never growing salt is that grasshopper must have eaten. For sure I will shoot; you go and get my bow and arrow”.
- སངས་རྒྱས་ཕུན་ཚོགས། Sangay Phuntshoདེ་ལས་བུ་འདི་མདའ་དང་ཞུ་འབག་ལྷོདཔ་ད་སྤྱིབ་དབ་འདི་ཨཔ་གི་ལྐེད་གུ་ཕྱག་ཅི་ནུག། ཨ་པ་གི་གོ་ལས་འབད་ཚུད་ཚུད་ཟེར་ལགཔ་གི་་ལྐེད་ལུ་བཏན་ནུག། བུ་གི་ང་མདའ་རྐྱབ་གེ་ཟེར་སླབ་འབད་མདའ་རྐྱབ་ད་ཨཔ་གི་ལྐེད་ལུ་ཕོག་འབད་ཨཔ་བསད་ད་ནུག།ད དེ་གི་དོན་དག་འདི་རང་ཅམ་གཅིག་རང་བཟའ་དགོ་མནོ་ནི་མི་འོང་། སེམས་ཅན་ལུ་ཡང་སྙིང་རྗེ་བཀལ་དགོ།Son came with bow and arrow and father shot but missed. Grasshopper then resided on father’s goiter. And father said “shh shh” pointing to his goiter. “Ok, you stand still. I will shoot” said the son. And instead of hitting grasshopper, arrow hit father’s goiter and got killed. The moral is, Salt that cannot be grown cannot be eaten by animal. We should not be selfish thinking, animal shouldn’t eat and I must. We should fell mercy over animals.
