Namshing Lepcha from Khanabhati village describes his native language called Lepcha. The Lepcha ethnic group has a caste system called "Thar". Gradually the Lepcha language is going extinct, it is rarely used and parents aren't always passing it on to the younger generations. Lepcha's language and culture can only remain if the senior citizens take their responsibility in teaching the young.
- རྣམ་སིང་ལེགས་རྕག Namshing Lepchaང་གི་མིང་རྣམ་སིང་ལེགས་རྩག་ཨིན་ ང་གོམ་ཀྲུག་སྡོདཔ་ཨིན་ ཏེ་ང་གཡུས་ཀཱ་ན་བཊི་ལས་ཨིན།My name is Namshing Lepcha. I stay here in Gomtu. My village is from Khanabhati.
- རྣམ་སིང་ལེགས་རྕག Namshing Lepchaང་ནང་རྒེད་འོག་ཡིག་ཚང་ནང་ལཱ་གཅིག་ཡང་ཡོད་ དེ་ལས་ན་མེ་དྲམ་གི་ནང་བྱོན་ཟེར་གསུངམ་ལས་ ལེགས་རྩག་གི་ཁ་སྐེད་སྐོར་ལས་སླབ་པ་འོང་ཡི།I had few works to be done at Gewog office and I came here to meet madams and they requested me to talk or share about Lepcha language.
- རྣམ་སིང་ལེགས་རྕག Namshing Lepchaང་བཅས་ཀྱི་ལོ་རྟར་རིམ་རོགས་ཀྱི་མིང་འདི་ནམ་བུ་ཟེར་སླབ་ཨིན། ང་བཅས་ལེགས་རྩག་ཆ་ཁྱབ་ལུ་ང་བཅས་ལུ་དགོ་པའི་མཁས་ཆེས་ག་རང་ཡང་ དེ་ལས་མི་རིགས་དབྱེ་བ་ཡང་མ་དྲཝ་ཡོད།There is an annual ritual called nambun. Lepcha have everything that are requries for the Lepcha and Lepcha do have a cast system called "thar." ("Thar" means cast.)

If the old people in our village ignores to pass down our language and culture, then it becomes diffcult for us to learn and remember.
