Songs for ramming mud are specially sung during construction of houses and fortresses that have rammed mud walls in Bhutan. Laborers sing these songs and perform their accompanying dances, as they ram the mud. In this way, they entertain themselves and get some relieve from the boredom and fatigue of the work of ramming. This particular ramming song is local to Gangteng community. The lyrics to the song describe a master, and a temple and its surroundings. It is claimed that the master in the song is Gengteng Trulku who is an important religious figure of the locality, the temple is Gangteng Temple, and the surroundings Gangtey Valley.
