Video Overview
Trade was popular among the few Bhutanese rich merchants in the past and traders mostly traveled between Tibet in the North and India in the South. Tshongpoen Norzang was a popular Bhutanese merchant travelling all over Tibet and in the northern parts of India to conduct business. The song "Yabchen Apa", a classical Boedra song, seems to be composed based on this popular ancient Bhutanese merchant and his father, whose names are both mentioned in the lyrics. The song appears to be sang from the perspective of the father as he stops his son Norzang from leaving home, claiming that he is old enough and wanting his son to look after his (the father's) welfare rather than traveling away from him.
