This short video has the classical Boedra song “Omo Omo Mani,” sung by Pasang from Laya Gewog, Gasa District. It is a sacred song that was composed for the benefit of the public while they are engaged in constructing Bhutanese traditional houses. Its lyrics describe the auspicious day of beginning construction, from the ground-breaking ceremony to roofing. Since Bhutanese adhere to these ceremonial events on the start of any important work, the construction of a residence also requires the same spiritual events. Thus, the author composed the song to highlight the importance of these events.
