Cheki from Tshatsi village sings an old song called "Salu Danpa Saran". The composer is unknown. It is said the song originated from the village elders. Today it is still sung by the people of Tshatsi village and uses the local dialect Tshanglakha. The lyrics describe how people change with the passage of time. It also mentions that "the earth is ancient, as well as the sky. It is not the times that change, but the people". The song indirectly comments on the changing Bhutanese culture under Western influence.
- ཆོས་སྐུ Chekuསྭོ་ ས་ལུ་དང་པོ་ས་རང་། །ངམ་ལུ་དང་པོ་ངམ་རང་། །དུས་ལ་འགྱུར་བ་མང་གི །རང་ག་མི་རྣམས་འགྱུར་ཅ། །དུས་ལ་འགྱུར་བ་མང་གི །རང་ག་མི་རྣམས་འགྱུར་ཅ། ། སྭོ་ ས་འདི་དང་ཕུའི་ས་རང་། །གནམ་འདི་དང་ཕུའི་གནམ་རང་། །དུས་ལུ་འགྱུར་བ་མེན་པར། །རང་གི་མི་ཚུ་འགྱུརཝ་ཨིན། །Soh....The earth is the earth of ancient and the sky is the sky of ancient. So, its not the time that changes but we the people.
- ཆོས་སྐུ Chekuསྭོ་ མཆོད་བཤམ་ཁྲ་མོ་གོཌ་ནས། །ཡོན་ཆབ་ཕུལ་བ་མཐོང་ལ། །ཡོན་ཆབ་ཧབ་ཐུར་ཕུལ་ནེ་བུ། །བཞེས་ལས་ཐུར་རང་མ་ལ། །ཡོན་ཆབ་ཧབ་ཐུར་ཕུལ་ནེ་བུ། །བཞེས་ལས་ཐུར་རང་མ་ལ། ། སྭོ་ མཆོད་བཤམ་ཁྲ་མོ་བལྟ་བ་ཅིན། །ཡོན་ཆབ་ཕུལ་ས་མཐོང་མས། །ཡོན་ཆབ་ག་དེ་ཕུལ་རུང་། །བཞེས་ནི་ཅིག་ཡང་མིན་འདུག །ཡོན་ཆབ་ག་དེ་ཕུལ་རུང་། །བཞེས་ནི་ཅིག་ཡང་མིན་འདུག །Soh... Looking to the altar, offering of water is seen. How much water is offered, not even single is taken.
- ཆོས་སྐུ Chekuསྭོ་ ལྷ་ཁང་ནང་ཀ་མཇལ་ནས། །སྐུ་ཏེ་བཞུགས་པ་མཐོང་ལ། །མིང་གིས་མཇལ་བ་ཙམ་གྱིས། །རང་ག་བར་ཆད་བསལ་བེ། །མིང་གིས་མཇལ་བ་ཙམ་གྱིས། །རང་ག་བར་ཆད་བསལ་བེ། ། སྭོ་ ལྷ་ཁང་ནང་ལུ་མཇལ་བ་ཅིན། །སྐུ་རེ་བཞུགས་ས་མཐོངམ་མས། །མིག་གིས་མཇལ་བ་ཙམ་གྱིས། །རང་གི་བར་ཆད་བསལ་འོང་། །མིག་གིས་མཇལ་བ་ཙམ་གྱིས། །རང་གི་བར་ཆད་བསལ་འོང་། །Soh...Looking inside the temple, sitting statues are seen. Just having seen by eyes, it clearifies our obstacles.
- ཆོས་སྐུ Chekuསྭོ་ ཉ་ཏ་ཐེང་ཏ་གོཌ་ནེ། །བཟའ་དང་བཟའ་མིན་མཐོང་ལ། །མིང་གིས་མཐོང་མ་མ་གཏོགས། །རང་ག་རེག་ཀ་མ་ལ། །མིང་གིས་མཐོང་མ་མ་གཏོགས། །རང་ག་རེག་ཀ་མ་ལ། ། སྭོ་ ཕར་དང་ཚུར་ལུ་བལྟ་བ་ཅིན། །བུ་དང་བུམོ་ཚུ་མཐོངམ་མས། །མིག་གིས་མཐོང་བ་མ་གཏོགས། །རང་གི་རྩ་བར་མིན་འདུག །མིག་གིས་མཐོང་བ་མ་གཏོགས། །རང་གི་རྩ་བར་མིན་འདུག །Soh....Looking here and there, boys and girls are seen. Though seen by eyes, they are not nearby me.
- ཆོས་སྐུ Chekuསྭོ་ ག་ཏ་དོང་ཏ་གོཌ་ནེ། །སྐར་མ་བརྒྱ་ཤར་མཐོང་ལ། །མིང་གིས་མཐོང་མ་མ་གཏོགས། །ལ་ཉི་ད་བུ་མཐོང་ལ། །མིང་གིས་མཐོང་མ་མ་གཏོགས། །ལ་ཉི་ད་བུ་མཐོང་ལ། ། སྭོ་ ཡར་དང་མར་ལུ་བལྟ་བ་ཅིན། །སྐར་མ་བརྒྱ་ཤར་མཐོངམ་མས། །མིག་གིས་མཐོང་བ་མ་གཏོགས། །ཟླཝ་བཟུམ་སྦེ་མཐོངམ་མས། །མིག་གིས་མཐོང་བ་མ་གཏོགས། །ཟླཝ་བཟུམ་སྦེ་མཐོངམ་མས། །Soh... Looking up and down, hundreds of shinining stars are seen. Though seen by eyes, it sees like the moon.
