    The Tongdeb Thuedrel of Tibet,
    ས་བོད་ཀྱི་གཏོང་དེབ་མཐུད་མགྲོལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལེགས་བུད་དར:
    Longed for Dharma while he was still in his mother's womb,
    ཡུམ་ཨ་མའི་ཁོངས་ལས་དམ་ཆོས་དྲན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Learned the classical Tibetan alphabet at the age of three,
    ལོ་དོ་གསུམ་ལུ་ཀ་ཀུ་ལྷབ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Went into retreat at the age of five times three (fifteen),
    ལྔ་གསུམ་བཅོ་ལྔ་སྐུ་མཚམས་འཛུལ། །

    Completed the retreat after six times three plus three (twenty-one) months,
    དྲུག་གསུམ་ཟླ་གསུམ་སྐུ་མཚམཧ་ཐོན། །

    The tribulations for the outer body was withstood,
    ཕྱི་ལུས་ཀྱི་དཀའཝ་ཆོག་ནུག་པ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    ནང་སེམས་ཀྱི་སྡིག་པ་མ་དག་པས། །
    ནང་སེམས་ཀྱི་སྡིག་པ་མ་དག་པས། །
    But the sins of the inner mind were not purified,
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    As it (inner mind) was not purified, [he] went for pilgrimage,
    འདི་མ་དག་ཙམ་ལུ་གནས་བསྐོར་བྱོན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    (He) visited both the very sacred (big), and less sacred (small) pilgrimage sites,
    གནས་ཆེ་བ་མཇལ་ཅིག་ཆུང་ཡང་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Lhasa Samye was the very sacred site (he) visited,
    ཆེ་བ་ལྷ་ས་བསམ་ཡས་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Tsari Tsekor was the less sacred site (he) visited.
    ཆུང་བ་རྩ་རི་རྩེ་བསྐོར་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Up there by the mountainside, (he) visited the Lhading Temple.
    ཕུག་ཡར་ལས་ལྷཱ་བདུད་ལྷ་ཁང་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Down there at the tail of the valley, (he) visited Dzongdra Temple.
    དོ་མ་ལས་རྫོང་བྲག་ལྷ་ཁང་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    (He) visited Taktsang Singye Pelphug.
    སྟག་ཚང་སེང་གེ་པད་ཕུག་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    (He) visited Tuskpai Ugyen Tsemo.
    བཙུགས་པའི་ཨོ་རྒྱན་རྩེ་མོ་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    (He) visited Dhonam Sergi Patra.
    དོ་རྣམས་གསེར་གྱི་སྤ་པྲ་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    (He) visited Tadzong Dungi Alo.
    སྟག་རྫོང་དུང་གི་ཨ་ལོ་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    (He) visited Paro Namthakarchung.
    སྤ་རོ་གནམ་ཐ་དཀར་ཅུ་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    (He) visited all the pilgrimage sites, big and small (very sacred and less sacred).
    གནས་ཆེ་ཆུང་མེད་པར་མཇལ་ཡི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    He circumambulated all the pilgrimage sites, big and small (very sacred and less sacred).
    གནས་ཆེ་ཆུང་མེད་པར་བསྐོར་ཡི་བ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    [But] the sins of inner mind are not purified.
    ང་སེམས་ཀྱི་སྡིག་པ་མ་དག་པས། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    As it was not purified, (he) went for pilgrimage (again).
    འདི་་མ་དག་ཙམ་ལུ་གནས་བསྐོར་བྱོན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The clear and golden mountain pass,
    ཨ་རྟག་མ་འཛེག་གསེར་གྱི་ལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    While peering down the golden mountain pass,
    གསེར་གྱི་ལ་ལས་མར་བལྟ་ཚེ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The high hill that is not seen usually,
    ཨ་རྟག་མ་མཐོང་མཐོ་བའི་རི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    While peering down the high hill,
    མཐོ་བའི་རི་ལས་མར་བལྟ་ཚེ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    (He sees) the Arya Dewa of India.
    མ་རྒྱའི་ཨཱརྱ་དེཝ། ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Listen Arya Dewa,
    ཉན་མས་ཨཱརྱ་དེཝ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Listen Arya Dewa,
    གསན་མས་ཨཱརྱ་དེཝ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    I, Tongdeb Thuedrel, from Tibet,
    ང་བོད་ཀྱི་གཏོང་དེབ་མཐུད་མགྲོལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Visited all pilgrimage sites, big and small,
    གནས་ཆེ་ཆུང་མེད་པར་མཇལ་ཆེ་ཡི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Circumambulated all the pilgrimage sites, big and small,
    ནས་ཆེ་ཆུང་མེད་པར་བསྐོར་ཆེ་ཡི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Without visiting the Namdakarchung of India,
    རྒྱའི་གནམ་དག་དཀར་ཅུ་མ་མཇལ་བ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    My mind can’t be purified.
    ངེ་སེམས་ཀྱི་སྡིག་པ་མི་དག་པས། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The Namdakarchung of India,
    ས་རྒྱའི་གནམ་དག་དཀར་ཅུ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Where is it?
    ས་ག་གི་ཕྱོགས་ལུ་ཨིནམ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The rainbow-like feathers of yours,
    ཁྱོད་གདོང་སྒྲོ་མཇའ་རིལ་ཅཔ་མ་ནི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Lend me your feathers please.
    གདོང་སྒྲོ་ང་ལུ་བརྙ་གནང་མས། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    You the arrogant (man), the arrogant(man),
    ཁྱོད་ཧམ་པུ་ཅན་ཅིག་ཧམ་པུ་ཅན།།
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The arrogant Tongdeb of Tibet.
    ས་བོད་ཀྱི་གཏོང་དེབ་ཧམ་པུ་ཅན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The Namdakarchung of India.
    རྒྱའི་གནམ་དག་དཀར་ཅུ་འདི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Its top is just about a foot below the sky.
    རྩེ་གནམ་ལུ་མ་རེག་ཆུ་གང་ཨིན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The sun might see it.
    ཁྲི་གདུགས་ཉིམ་གྱིས་མཇལན་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The stars might circumambulate it.
    དཀར་གསལ་དམངས་ཀྱིས་བསྐོརན་བསྐོར། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    But other people can’t see it.
    མི་ཚུ་གཞན་གྱིས་ནཱི་མི་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    How can you see it, Tongdeb?
    གཏོང་དེབ་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་གན་མཇལཝ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The base is just about a foot above the ground.
    རྩཝ་ས་ལུ་མ་རེག་ཆུ་གང་ཨིན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The Draktse Gyelmo might see it.
    བྲག་རྩེ་རྒྱལ་མོའི་མཇལན་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The buzzing bees might circumambulate it.
    གཟིར་གཟིར་སྦྲང་མ[མཚོ་སྨནརྒྱལ་མོ]སྐོརན་སྐོར། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    But other people have not seen it.
    མི་ཚུ་གཞན་གྱིས་ནཱི་མ་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    How can you see it, Tongdeb?
    གཏོང་དེབ་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་གན་མཇལ་བ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The waist is just a foot away from the cliff.
    སྐེདཔ་བྲག་ལུ་མ་རེག་ཆུ་གང་ཨིན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The Draktse Gyelmo might see it.
    བྲག་གིས་རྩེ་རྒྱལ་མོའི་མཇལན་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The buzzing bees might circumambulate it.
    སེམས་གཟིར་གཟིར་སྦྲངམོ་བསྐོརན་བསྐོར།།
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Others people can't see it.
    མི་ཚུ་གཞན་གྱིས་འདི་མི་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    How can you see it, Tongdeb?
    གཏོང་དེབ་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་གན་མཇལ་བ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    I, Thuedrel from Jiligongmo,
    ངེ་མཐུད་མགྲོལ་བྱི་ལི་སྒོང་མོ་འདི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    My) upper body has the saddle made of gold.
    ཡར་འཁོད་སྟོད་གསེར་ལུ་གསེར་ལྒ་ཨིན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    It is the riding horse of the sun in the sky.
    དགུང་ཁྲི་གདུགས་ཉི་མའི་གཞོན་རྟ་ཨིན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The lower body has the saddle made of silver.
    མར་མཁོད་སྨད་དངུལ་ལུ་དངུལ་ལྒ་ཨིན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    It is the riding horse of the moon.
    ཆུ་ཤལ་ཟླ་བའི་གཞོན་རྟ་ཨིན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The waist has the saddle made of shell.
    སྐེདཔདར་ལུ་དུང་ལྒ་ཨིན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    It is the riding horse of my father, the king.
    ངེ་ཡབ་ཆེན་རྒྱལ་པོའི་གཞོན་རྟ་ཨིན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Why do I need to borrow these from you Tongdeb?
    ནཱི་གཏོང་དེབ་ཁྱོད་ལས་ག་བརྙ་དགོ་ཟེར། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The Namdakarchung of India,
    རྒྱའི་གནམ་དག་དཀར་ཅུ་འདི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Its top is just about a foot below the sky,
    རྩེ་གནམ་ལུ་མ་རེག་ཆུ་གང་ཡོད། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར

    Other people have not seen it.
    མི་ཚུ་གཞན་གྱིས་འདི་མ་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    [But] I, Tongdeb, have seen it.
    ནཱི་གཏོང་དེབ་ང་གིས་མཇལ་ཆེ་ཡི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The base is just about a foot above the ground,
    རྩཝ་ས་ལུ་མ་རེག་ཆུ་གང་འདི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Putting the goddess of lake (mermaid) as the horse underneath,
    མཚོ་སྨན་རྒྱལམོ་ཝ་རྟ་བཙུགས། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Setting the golden fishes as the saddle and the rein,
    གསེར་མའི་ཉ་མོ་ལྒ་སྲབ་མགྲོན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Other people have not seen it.
    མི་ཚུ་གཞན་གྱིས་ནཱི་མ་མཇལ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    [But] I, Tongdeb, have seen it.
    ནི་གཏོང་དེབ་ང་གིས་མཇལ་ཆེའ་ཡི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The waist which is just a foot away from the cliff,
    སྐེདཔ་བྲག་ལུ་མ་རེག་ཆུ་གང་འདི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    I put Draktsen Gyem as the horse underneath,
    ང་བྲག་རྩེ་རྒྱལ་མོའི་ཝ་རྟ་བཙུགས། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Set the buzzing bees as the saddle and the rein,
    གཟིར་གཟིར་སྦྲང་མོ་ལྒ་་སྲབ་མགྲོན། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Other people haven't seen it.
    མི་ཚུ་གཞན་གྱིས་ནཱི་མ་མཇལ་བ། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    [But] I, Tongdeb, have seen it.
    ནི་གཏོང་དེབ་ང་གིས་མཇལ་ཆེ་ཡི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Now accept my apologies, accept my apologies.
    ད་བཤགས་པ་བཞེས་ཅིག་གཤགས་པ་བཞེས། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Accept my apologies, the Tongdeb from Tibet.
    ས་བོད་ཀྱི་གཏོང་དེབ་གཤགས་པ་བཞེས། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    I didn't know even when the Buddha visited me at my pillow.
    སངས་རྒྱས་ཧང་ཁར་བྱོན་རུང་ང་མ་འཚོར། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    I didn't know even when the blessings were endowed by the god.
    བྱིན་རླབས་ལྷ་གིས་གནང་རུང་ང་མ་ཤེས། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    My feather Jiligongmo,
    ངེ་གདོང་སྒྲོ་བྱི་ལི་སྒོང་མོ་འདི། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The upper body has a golden saddle.
    འཁོད་སྟོད་གསེར་ལུ་གསེར་ལྒ་་ཡོད། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Please accept that (as my offering), Tongdeb.
    དེ་གཏོང་དེབ་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་བཞེས་གནང་མས། ཐ།
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The lower body has a sliver saddle.
    འཁོད་སྨད་དངུལ་ལུ་དངུལ་ལྒ་ཡོད། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Please accept that (as my offering), Tongdeb.
    འདི་གཏོང་དེབ་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་བཞེས་གནང་མས། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    The waist has a saddle made of shell.
    སྐེད་དར་ལུ་དུང་ལྒ་ཡོད། །
  • ཨམ་འཕྲིན་ལས་བུད་དར
    Please accept that (as my offering), Tongdeb.
    ནཱི་གཏོང་དེབ་ཁྱོད་ལུ་བཞེས་གནང་མས་ཟེར། །
