This is a Zhabten prayer for Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal recited during the Zhabdrung’s death anniversary falls on 10th day of the third month of Bhutanese calendar in Punakha dzong by central monk body.  Zhabten is to request longer life that can be as simple as a supplication. This prayer was believed to be composed by his father Tenpai Nima. High lamas often compose specific Zhabten supplications requesting other lamas to live long and those compositions are then recited by their devotees. Zhabten is a type of ceremony to request the Buddha or an enlightened master to live long.
