Though the author of the song was unknown but it was composed based on disappointments encountered in life of a stag, which was used as metaphor for life of a particular person or who is in sadness. The verses of the song tell us that the life of the stag should be sad especially during winter snowfall, when the hunters hunt them, etc. Similarly, the author also compared his life with the golden fish in water whose life is also in danger and filled with sadness.
