The song “A Northern Mani in the Past” is presented here by Aum Ugyen Lhamo from Thimphu Thromdey. The song speaks of a journey; the obstacles one may face while undertaking it; and what is needed to overcome such obstacles. Hence, in certain respects, this song is about the ways in which people travel in the past and the challenges they faced.

- ཨུ་རྒྱན་ལྷ་མོ། Ugyen Lhamoདཔལ་ལ་དམ་པའི་ཕྱོགས་སུ་ལ་སྐྱབས་ལ་སུ་མཆི། །I take refuge towards glorious choicest.
- ཨུ་རྒྱན་ལྷ་མོ། Ugyen Lhamoཤར་རི་ལ་མི་འགྲོ་ལ་ཨ་མའི་བུམོ། །ཤར་རི་ལ་འགྲོ་ན་ལ་གངས་དཀར་ཁཝ་དང་འཕྲད། །I don't want to travel to the north, if I travel to the I will meet with snow
- ཨུ་རྒྱན་ལྷ་མོ། Ugyen Lhamoགངས་དཀར་ཁཝ་དང་འཕྲད་རུང་ལ་ཨ་མའི་བུམོ། །ང་རའི་ལྷམ་ཅུང་དཔལ་བཟང་ལ་ལོ་ཀ་རང་དང་ཡོད། །Even if I meet with snow, I have a pair of glorious shoes to wear.
- ཨུ་རྒྱན་ལྷ་མོ། Ugyen Lhamoནགས་རི་ལ་མི་འགྲོ་ལ་ཨ་མའི་བུམོ། །ནཱ་རི་ལ་འགྲོ་ན་ལ་ཤིང་ཆེན་མངམ་དང་འཕྲད།I don't want to travel into the forest, if I travel into the forest I will meet with huge trees.
- ཨུ་རྒྱན་ལྷ་མོ། Ugyen Lhamoཤིང་ཆེན་མངམ་དང་འཕྲད་རུང་ལ་ཨ་མའི་བུམོ། །ང་རའི་རྟ་ཅུང་དཔལ་བཟང་ལ་ལོ་ཀ་རང་དང་ཡོད། །Even if meet with the huge trees, my auspicious axe is with me.
- ཨུ་རྒྱན་ལྷ་མོ། Ugyen Lhamoཆརཔ་རི་ལ་མི་འགྲོ་ལ་ཨ་མའི་བུམོ། །ཆརཔ་རི་ལ་འགྲོ་ན་ལ་ཆུ་ཆེན་མངམ་དང་འཕྲད། །I don't want to travel in the rain, if I travel in the rain I will meet many huge rivers.
- ཨུ་རྒྱན་ལྷ་མོ། Ugyen Lhamoཆུ་ཆེན་མངམ་དང་འཕྲད་རུང་ལ་ཨ་མའི་བུམོ། །ང་རའི་གསེར་གྱི་ཟམ་ལྕགས་ལ་ལོ་ཀ་རང་དང་ཡོད། །Even if I meet with the many huge rivers, I have golden bridge with me.
- ཨུ་རྒྱན་ལྷ་མོ། Ugyen Lhamoཉི་མ་བྱང་ཕྱོགས་མ་ཎི་ལ་པད་མེ་། །I pray to the sun travelling towards north
- ཨུ་རྒྱན་ལྷ་མོ། Ugyen Lhamoདཔལ་ལ་དམ་པའི་ཕྱོགས་སུ་ལ་སྐྱབས་ལ་སུ་མཆི། །ལགས་སོ་ལགས།I take refuge towards the glorious chociest. Thank you.
