Sempa from Richanglu recounts the origins of several village names in Martshala Gewog. These historical accounts were traditionally passed down from generation to generation until now. According to Sempa, the village name "Gorthongma," for instance, derives from both Tibetan and Sharchop languages. 'Gor' means money in Tibetan, and 'thong' means 'to see' or 'to be found' in Sharchop. Legend says that money was found in that particular place.

- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདག་པ་ ང་གིས་ གནམ་མེད་ས་མེད་ཅིག་ཁུངས་སྐལ་མི་ཚུགས་ ཨིན་རུང་I won't be able to give you the whole detail. Still then,
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaརོགས་ རྒས་ཤོས་ཚུ་གིས་གསུངས་གནང་དེས།I would tell you what the elderlies says.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདམར་ཚྭ་ལ་ཟེར་མི་ ག་དེ་སྦེ་ཆགས་ཡི་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་So, The formation happened.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདང་པོ་ མཚོ་བསྐོར་འབཱན་ཟེར་སྤུན་ཆ་དགུ་འོང་ལོ་ ཁོང་ས་མ་ཐོབ་པར་Way back, a sibling of 9 came here to seek for land.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaའདི་དེ་ ཁོང་སྤུན་ཆ་དགུཔ་འདི་ ས་སྤྱོད་ནི་མ་ཐོབ་པར་That's because, they didn't have land then.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaང་བཅས་སྤུན་དགུ་ཨིན་ ག་གིས་ཡང་འབད་མི་ཚུགས་ཟེར་ བསྐོར་ཏེ་ས་སྤྱོདཔ་ཨིན་པས།Then they decided to settle there.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདེ་སྦེ་ས་སྤྱོད་དེ་ ཚུར་དམར་ཚྭ་ལའི་གཡུས་ལུ་ དམར་ཚྭ་ལ་ཆགས་པ་གཅིག་ཡོད་ ཚེ་མ་ནང་ ག་གི་ཡང་མ་མཐོང་འོང་།So they settles there. and there is a small settlement inside the Matsahla Jungle, you wouldn't have seen it.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaཁོང་ཆ་ཁྱབ་འདི་ནང་ ཟླཝ་ཟླཝ་སྦེ་སྡོད་ནུག ཟླཝ་གཅིག་ཚང་ཞིནམ་ལས་ གཞན་ཅིག་ཁར་འབྱོན་ནུག་ཁོང་སྤུན་དགུ་པོ།They stayed there for years and then moved to another place.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaཁོང་སྡོད་ས་ལུ་ ཆུ་ཙང་ཏོག་ཏོ་མིན་པར་ དམརཔོ་སྦེ་ཡོདཔ་ཨིན།There was no clean water where they settled. the water was red in colour.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaའ་ནི་གི་སྦེ་ ཁོང་ཆ་ཁྱབ་ཀྱི་ས་བཅག་བཅགས་ཨིན་ཟེར་ དམར་ཚྭ་ལའོ་So, that's how the place got it's name.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདམར་ཚྭ་ལའོ་ཟེར་མི་འདི་ འདི་ནང་ཆགས་ཡི་ཟེར་ ང་གིས་ཤེས་མི་འདི་དེ་སྦེ་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན།Martsala, This is what I know.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདེ་ལས་ འདིའི་མ་ཚད་ སྒོར་མཐོང་མ་ཟེར་མི་འདི་ ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་If you are wondering what is Gorthongma,
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaབོདཔ་ཀྱི་ ཏི་རུ་གོ་ཀྲོ་ལུ་ སྒོར་ཟེར་སླབ་མས་Gor is the Tibetan money.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaའདི་ བོདཔ་བསྐོར་ཏེ་འགྱོཝ་ད་ ཏི་རུ་གོ་ཀྲོ་གཅིག་མཐོངམ་ལས་ ཡ་ སྒོར་མཐོང་ཡི་So, when a tibetan was roaming around here, they saw this money.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaད་འབདན་ ནཱ་ལུ་ཏི་རུ་ གོ་ཀྲོ་གཅིག་མཐོང་ཡི་ ད་སྒོར་མཐོང་མ་ཟེར་སྦོག་ནི་ཟེར་ སྒོར་མཐོང་མ་ཟེར་སྦོག་ཡི་ཟེར་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན་ ང་གིས་ཤེས་མི་ཅིགSince the Gor was seen there, thus the name, Gor Thongma.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདེ་ལས་ གཡུས་ཀག་པ་ཟེར་མི་འདི་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ དང་པོ་བཀྲ ཤིས་སྒང་ལས་མར་ གརཔ་གཉིས་ཀྱིས་ ཀག་པོ་བརྡ་འོང་སྟེ་The reason for the name Kagpa, for Kagpa village is, Once, from Tashigang, there was two court attendants, who were chasing the Kagpas.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདང་པོ་གཡུས་མེདཔ་ཨིན་མས་ གརཔ་གཉིས་དབུ་གམ་སྟེ་ ཡ་ རྒྱ་གར་ལས་མར་ ཡར་སོང་ཡི་ ཀག་པོ་བརྡ་མ་འཛིན་Before there was no settlement there. The two attendants got so tired chasing the Kagpa
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaལོག་འགྱོ་གེ་ཟེར་སྟུན་གྲོས་རྐྱབ་སྟེ་ ཡར་ ལོག་སོང་ནུག ཀག་པ་བརྡ་འོང་སྟེ་ ནཱ་ལྷོདཔ་ལས་གཡུས་ཀྱི་མིང་ ཀག་པ་དུང་ཟེར་བཏགས་ནུག་ཟེར་སླབ་དེས།Since they reached there, chasing the Kagpa, hence the place is called Kagpa Dung.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaཧེ་མ་ཨ་རྒས་་ཚུ་གིས་ དེ་ལས་འདིའི་མ་ཚད་ ཕར་གྱི་ ཁྲིས་ཟོར་ཟེར་མི་འདི་ག་ཅི་ཨིན་ན་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན།even the Threzor village has a origin of name.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaའདིའི་གཡུས་འཇུག་ལུ་དང་པོ་ མཚོ་ལེ་ཤཱ་ཡོདཔ་ལས་ བླམ་འབྲུག་པ་ཀུན་ལེགས་ཀྱིས་ ཕུའི་རྩེ་ལུ་བཞུགས་ཞིནམ་ལས་Before there used to be a lake below the village and Lama Drukpa Kuenley,
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaཁོ་གིས་ ཐུགས་སྨོན་གནང་སྟེ་ མཚོ་བརྡ་བཏང་ནིའི་དོན་ལུ་ བཞུགས་སྟེ་ འབྲུག་པ་ཀུན་ལེགས་ ཁྲུས་གནང་སྟེ་བཞུགས་ལས་ ཁྲིས་ཟོར་ཟེར་མིང་བཏགས་ནུག་ཟེར་ཞུ་ནི་ང་གིས།meditated over there, to chase away the lake and was taking shower in the lake and thus the name Thuezur.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདེ་ལས་ནཱ་ རི་ཆང་ལུ་ཟེར་མི་འདི་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་And here, it's called Richang lu,
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaརི་ཆང་ལུ་མུང་ཟེར་ ང་ཤེས་མི་ཅིག་ཞུ་བཞག་གེ་ རི་ཆང་ལུ་མུང་ ཧེ་མ་མེ་མེ་ཚུ་གི་སླབ་དེས།I will state the ones I know.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaག་ཅིམ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ རི་ཆང་ལུ་མུང་ཨིན་ ནཱ་ལས་འགྱོ་སྟེ་ འཇུག་མར་ལས་འཐོན་ཏེ་ཡོད་ རི་ཆང་ལུ་མུང་ཟེར་སྦོག་དེས་དང་ཕུ།This place is so called Richanglumung.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདེ་ལས་ ད་ལྟོ་འདི་ ང་བཅས་ཚངས་ལ་ཚུ་གིས་འཇམ་ཏོང་ཏོ་སྦེ་ རི་ཆང་ལ་ཟེར་སླབ་བཞགཔ་ཨིན།But now its called Richangla, simply.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaརི་ཆང་ལུ་མུང་ཟེར་ ནཱ་ལས་ ཆུ་ནགཔ་འབད་འཐོན་ ཆུའི་འརྐ་ནཱ་ཡོད་ནི་འདི་གིས་ རི་ཆང་ལུ་ཟེར་སླབ་ནུག་ཟེར་ཞུ་ནི་ང་གིས།There was a black river from here. since the origin was from there. It is called Richanglumung.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaཀེབ་ཏང་ཟེར་མི་འདི་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ དང་པོ་ཤ་རོགས་པ་གཉིས་ ཤ་བརྡ་བར་འགྱོ་ནུག་ འགྱོཝ་ད་ ཕྱེ་ཨ་ཙི་ཅི་འབག་ནུག་ ཀ་ལ་འཐབ་ཆ་མིན་འདུགKeptang is so called, because once two hunters went to hunt and took with them some flour.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདེ་ལས་ ལྟོ་སྐྱེད་ ཤ་མ་ཐོབ་པར་ ལྟོ་སྐྱེད་དེ་ནང་དོག་ནུག་ ནང་དོག་སྟེ་ ཡར་ཀེབ་ཏང་ཟོར་ལུ་ལྷོདཔ་ད་so he felt hungry, and when they reached Keptangzor,
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaམར་ལུ་ ཆུ་གཅིག་འདུག་ གཡུས་ཆགསཔ་ད་ ཆུ་མཐོང་ཡི་ ཧེ་མ་འདི་མ་མཐོང་So there was a stream over there, I didn't see it before but when the settlement started then , I have seen it.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaའ་ནི་ཆུའི་རྫིང་ནང་ལས་ ཤིང་གི་དམ་མ་ལུ་ཆུ་ཨོག་འབག་སྟེ་ འདི་ནང་གི་ རྡོ་ལེབ་སྟེག་སྟེ་འགུ་ མེ་ཕུརཔ་སྟེ་ ཀེབ་ཏང་བཟོ་སྟེ་ ཕར་ཚུར་གྱིར་ཏེ་ཟ་སྡོདཔ་ད་And then they collected the water in a leaf and prepared Chappati on a stone slab.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaཚོང་པ་དམང་རབ་ཅིག་འགྱོཝ་ཨིན་པས་ ཀེབ་ཏང་ཟ་སྡོདཔ་ད་This was seen by some bussiness person, passing by.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདབའི་ ཁྱེད་གཉིས་ག་ཅི་འབདཝ་སྨོ་ཟེརཝ་ད་ ང་བཅས་ཀྱི་ལྟོ་སྐྱེད་དེ་ ཀ་ལ་འཐབ་ཆ་འདི་མེད་And were asked, what they were doing? and they explained that they don't have the right utensil to prepare.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaཀེབ་ཏང་ འདིའི་རྡོ་ལེབ་འགུ་བཟོ་སྟེ་ཟ་དོ་ཟེརཝ་ད་ ཡ་ ཚོང་པ་ཚུ་གིས་ འདི་ནི་ཟོར་འདི་ ཀེབ་ཏང་ཟོར་ཟེར་བཏགས་གེ་ཟེར་ ཀེབ་ཏང་ཟེར་མིང་བཏགས་ཡི་ཟེར་ རོགས་མི་ཚུ་གིས་ གཏམ་འབད་དེས་ དེ་འབད་ང་གིས་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན།so, that's why preparing the chappati on the stone slab and thus called Keptangzor.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདེ་ལས་ མཚོ་གླིང་མཁར་ཟེར་མི་འདི་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ དང་ཕུ་ མཚོ་གླིང་སྦེ་སྡོད་ནུགAnd Tsolingkhar is so called because, Once there used to be lots of lake here.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaམཚོ་གླིང་ ད་ལྟོ་འདི་མཚོ་སྐམས་ཚར་ནུག་ ས་ཧོག་ཀ་ཧོག་ཀ་འདུག་ ང་བཅས་ཡང་འཅམ་མཇལ་བར་འགྱོ་དོ་Now, the lakes dried up and is full of the beds of the lake.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaའགྱོ་ད་ཤུལ་རྐྱངམ་ཅིག་འདུག་ མི་ཆགས་ཞིནམ་ལས འགྱོགས་ཡར་སོང་ནུག་མཚོ་ཚུ་There was only the remains, now that people has settled around. I think the lake ran away.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaམཚོ་གླིང་སྡོདཔ་ནུག་ཟེར་ཨིན་པས་ འདི་གི་སྦེ་ མཚོ་གླིང་འདུག་ཟེར་ མཚོ་གླིང་མཁར་ཟེར་མིང་བཏགས་ནུག་ཟེར་ ང་གིས་ཤེས་མི་ཅིག་ དེ་སྦེ་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན་ལགས།and thus the name, "tsolingkhar". Tso meaning ' Lake".
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaགཞན་གནམ་མེད་ས་མེད་གཅིག་ ང་གིས་ ཁུངས་བཀལ་མི་ཚུགས་ ཕར་ དབང་ཕུ་ཟེར་མི་འདི་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་and The place, Wangphu, is thus called,
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདང་ཕུ་ ས་འཚོལ་འདི་ མེ་མེ་ཚུ་གིས་ས་འཚོལ་ཡི་འཚོལ་ཡི་འགྱོཝ་ད་ དབང་ཕུ་ལྷོདཔ་ད་ ཡ་ ས་འདི་ལེགས་ཤོམ་འདུགIn olden days, when people went to seek good places,
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaའདི་འབདཝ་ད་ཕར་ཚུར་ག་སྟེ་ལུ་ཡང་མི་མཐོང་པས་ ས་ཧོག་ཀ་ནང་ལུ་སྡོད་དོ་བཟུམ་འདུག་ཟེར་ དབང་ཕུ་ཟེར་བཏགས་ནུག་ཟེར་དེ་སྦེ་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན་ང་གིས།They couldn't find it anywhere, and that place felt like living in a hole and thus the name, Wangphu.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaདེ་ལས་ དགའ་གླིང་མཁར་འདི་ ང་གིས་ཁུངས་བཀལ་མི་ཤེས་ནི་མས་ལགས།and Galingkhar, I don't think I can reason it out well.
- སེམས་པ་ Sempaང་གིས་ཤེས་མི་དེམ་ཅིག་ཞུ་ནི་ ང་གི་མིང་འདི་ ག་གིས་ཡང་མ་ཤེསཔ་མེད་མ་གཟིགས་མེད་ ང་གི་མིང་འདི་ རི་ཆང་ལུའི་ སེམས་པ་ཨིན།That's all I know adn I have stated what I know. and My name is Richanglu's Sempa.

- སེམས་པ་ Sempaསེམས་དགའཝ་མ་ཚད་ སེམས་མ་བཏུབ་བཏུབ་རང་དགའ་སྟེ་ སྡོད་དེ་ཡོད་ གཏམ་བཤད་ནིའི་འགོ་སྐབས་ཐོབ་ཅི་ ཞབས་བྲོ་འཐོན་ནིའི་འགོ་སྐབས་ཐོབ་ཅི་I got the opportunity to sing. I got the opportunity to narrate the tales. I am really very happy.
