Video Overview
The Doya community in Jigmechhoeling County organizes an annual traditional festival called “Melog.” Melog was on the verge of extinction, but was recently revived. Young people were taught how to perform the festival, which is still coordinated by senior citizens like Ado Tshering. During the festival, a rooster is slaughtered, its soul is offered to heaven, and the hot blood to the local deities for the prosperity of the community. This festival is associated with the pre-Buddhist Bön tradition.
