Women of Borongmang village in Sakteng Gewog sing an old bodra song called "Gungsum Gungla". It reveals the importance of a true eternal bond between various relationships such as friends, masters and disciples, parents and children, etc. The song explicitly discloses the friendship between followers of the dharma to be eternal with sacred commitment under a single spiritual master. This friendship is compared with a golden pillar as it is believed that this pillar remains unchanged. Bhutanese classical songs mostly use metaphors in their lyrics; similarly this song uses several metaphors referencing mountains, space, fortresses, villages, etc. all in the context of unchanging relationships. For example mountains are indispensible for snow lions and therefore the song desires the eternal relation between the two to remain unchanged for all time.
