And when the earthquake came, you were in Kathmandu.

अनि गाउँको मान्छेहरुसँग कति दिन पछि कुराकानि गर्न पायो, जस्तै फोनहरु।

And after how many days were you able to contact the villagers,

Before I had only heard of it, but [I] had never seen it.

Many houses have been ruined and the poor people have nothing to eat

[We] had expected there would be some support for the monastery, now

Now we don't have to depend on others. There is food: grains in the

from some help from [the] outside. It's been so much help now.

[I] have been living by eating whatever is grown in the village.

I brought tents, chilies too, [and] oil too.

पुजाअर्चन गर्यो पुजा झिन्छ्याकहरु गर्यो अब गाउँमा

We have worshipped. Now in the village

d̪en̪e tɕʰjak tɕʰøpa tʑen̪a

अनि पुजाअर्चन गर्यो भने

if we worship then,

DAM

d̪a t̪ja:ŋ hla ŋe baɾ tɕen̪ ŋe ɦwag lu ŋe n̪a d̪en̪e

माथि भगबान चित्त बुझ्यो बिचमा चेनको चित्र बुझ्यो भने तले नागको चित्त

if the Lord is satisfied above,

DAM

d̪ẽ n̪ajam mukʏ d̪ẽ

अनि रोगहरु अनिकाल अनि

and the diseases and famine....

DAM

d̪a ɕajul d̪i pʰan̪ o̤ŋ labd̪e d̪an̪a o̤raŋ d̪a pʰan̪ jø re

अब भुकम्पले रोक्छ कि भनेर अहिले हामि अब काम लागिरहेछ।

[We] hope the earthquake might stop it. Now we are working on it.

DAM

ŋama d̪an̪a o̤raŋ d̪a luŋpala ta masi d̪uʔ min̪i luŋ mi

पहिला अहिले हाम्रो अब गाउँमा मान्छेहरु जे पायो त्यहि गर्ने छ नि त

Before the people in the village used to do as they wished,

DAM

d̪uktɕja sã tʑe mak tɹuk tʑjoŋ

नराम्रो मात्र गर्ने झैझगडा हुने

They only did bad deeds, there was only fighting [amongst each other].

DAM

d̪en̪e mi tɕik tɕikla t̪ʰuptse tʑe: ka̤ŋ ɕin̪ ɕin̪ tʑe d̪ila o̤la

अनि मान्छे एकअर्कालाई हेपचेप गर्ने नराम्रो नराम्रो गर्ने अनि त्यसले

People dominated each other, treated each other bad, and due to it...

DAM

ɕat̪ak ŋe tɹuk d̪ila d̪en̪e ji̤ndo labdi

जग्गा जमिनहरु नमिलेर अनि यस्तो होला भनेर

[there was] dispute over land, this might have happened

DAM

d̪en̪e t̪o:kpa tʑe d̪e ji̤do a

यस्तो शंका भईरहेछ हैन

I suspect it [did happen].

DAM

o̤ d̪a d̪i n̪e o̤raŋ d̪a

यो अब यो चाहिँ हामि अब

Now this is it

DAM

o̤raŋ dewa tʑe n̪a

हामी सोध्यो भने।

if you ask us.

DAM

sajulki meki ʑikkpa tɕʰui ʑikpa luŋji ʑikpa sajulki ʑikpa sajul ʑikpa

भुकम्पको आगोको कारण हावाको कारण पानीको कारण जमिन (माटो) कारण माटोको

The reason for [the] earthquake is [the elements] fire, wind, water,

DAM

d̪a tsʰjø n̪aŋla d̪id̪i kuntɕjokla

अब पुस्तक भीत्र यो चाहिँ भगवानलाई

Now inside the book,

DAM

d̪a sowa kjab lwã tɕjombo n̪amtʑe d̪a kunʑok tɕʰjopa pul luŋ ʑimpa

अब प्राथाना गर्ने ठुलो लामाहरु सबैले अब भगवानलाई पुजा गर्ने सहयोग

[there were] big monks who worshipped the Lord, telling everyone to

DAM

luŋpala taɕi: pə d̪ʏn̪du paXXX

गाउँमा राम्रो कामना सबै

[To] now wish good for the village.

DAM

sajul lep meoŋ meji ʑikpa tɕʰjuji ʑikpa luŋji ʑikpa sajul ki ʑikpa

भुकम्प आउँदैन आगोको कारण पानिको कारण हावाको कारण जमिनको कारण यस्तो

They said the earthquake won't come due to [just] fire, water, wind

DAM

d̪a mi maktɹuk tʑe tɕik tɕikla

अब मान्छे झैझगडा गर्ने एकअर्कालाइ

Now people who quarrel with each other,

DAM

me ka tʑe tɕik tɕikla tɹukpa sã t̪aŋ n̪a d̪a sa tʰɹuk hla tʰɹuk lu

नराम्रो गर्ने एकअर्कालाई झगडा मात्र गर्ने अब जमिन नमिल्ने भगवान

who do bad to others, the land [will] not be satisfied, the God

DAM

lu tɹuk n̪a d̪ẽ luŋpala ta masi d̪ʏn̪ mudup d̪en̪e

नाग नमिलेपछि अनि गाउँमा नराम्रो हुने कामना पुरा नहुने अनि

When the snake God is not satisfied, bad things [will] happen in the

DAM

sajul o̤ŋɣe re bəlaksa d̪en̪e

भुकम्प आउँछ कहिलेकाहिँ अनि

Sometime when the earthquake comes,

DAM

t̪ʰampa o̤ŋke re mukʏ o̤ŋke re d̪en̪e ki

खडेरि आउने भोकमरी हुने।आउने यस्तो चाहिँ

there is drought and famine. This happens.

DAM

le o̤ŋ labd̪i n̪at̪ø tsamtɕik rewa la

आउँछ भनेर सुनेको मात्र हो नि अब

I have only heard of it.
