A kolokpa (word in Tshanglakha/Sharchop) refers to a woody heart-shaped seed from the pods of vines that grow in tropical forests. People in eastern Bhutan use the kolokpa to play a game in which players compete by shooting and knocking down stacks of kolokpas that are placed on the ground in a row, a few meters away. For each kolokpa knocked down, the player scores a point. The game finishes when the losing player has no more kolokpas left. Ara (locally brewed alcohol) is the most common prize bet and the game is sometimes accompanied by songs and dances.
