The song “The King in the Mist” is sung in performances of Aché Lhamo, a popular kind of secular theatrical art performed in the valleys of  Eastern Bhutan. This composition is credited to Drupthop Chakzampa, aka Tangtong Gyelpo, the 15th century figure widely known for building iron bridges in the Himalayas regions. The Aché Lhamo Cham is connected to the legendary tale of King Norzang. The song performed here narrates the return of King Norzang from the heavenly realms after rescuing his wife. Queen Yeto Lhamo had escaped to her heavenly home because the other queen had attempted to kill her out of jealousy while King Norzang was away fighting a war.
