This is a well known sorrowful song called "Sharna Sharwai Karma" (The Star Shining from the East) in Gashari village in Pemagatshel district. It is a song expressing sadness to having been born to become someone else’s servant. It also may be a mother’s expression of losing her children after they grow up. The first verse for instance says: “The star shining from the East, I wish it didn’t shine. When it shines, it becomes someone else’s star". Or in other lines, it says: "the river on the mountain, I wish it didn’t run down, When it runs down, it becomes another's river.” The last verse of the song gets to the point by saying: “The Child born by a mother, I wish it was not born, When it was born, they become someone else’s servant, Sad so it is.”
