In the Kanjur Lingkor ceremony, local people carry volumes of the Kanjur from Jangsarbu Temple in a procession on a circuit encircling the village. In the past, this ceremony was performed only once every three years, but recently it has become an annual event held on the third or second day of the second lunar month. The ceremony’s aim is to ward off evil and misfortune in the village and to bring favorable weather for the planting and harvesting of crops. A statue of Zhabdrung representing the Buddha is carried at the head of the procession followed by the entire set of Kanjur volumes arranged in sequence from the first to the last volumes. According to villagers, the texts are the most sacred relics of the gewog.
