So in Tibetan, they call it Künma Lingkha also.

Ya, it is maybe Künma Lingkha is, they give the name, um, many years ago. You know.

དེའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་གོ་ཐོས་ལ་དེའི་སྐབས་ལ་ལྷ་ས་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་ནི་དེ་ཙམ་གཞི་རྒྱ་ཆེན་པོ་མེད་པ་དང་།

Because, I heard that when in Lhasa when there is a lot of, very small city that time.

Yah.

རྐུན་པ་ཁག་གཅིག་གིས་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་ནང་ནས་རྐུན་མ་བརྐུས་ནས་གནས་དེར་ཡིབ་ནས་སྡོད་ས་ཡིན་པའི་ཆ་ནས་མིང་དེ་ལྟར་ཐོབ་ཡོད་ས་རེད།

And then okay, many thieves maybe, and then the thieves come in the city, to steal something and then, ah, then they go hiding there. You know.

གང་ཡིན་ཟེར་ན། གནས་དེ་གླིང་ཕྲན་ཆེན་པོ་ཞིག་ཡིན་པ་དང་། དེར་རྩ་དང་ལྗོན་ཤིང་མང་པོ་ཡོད།

Because that place is, ah, it is a big island, and many bushes and trees.

དེ་སྐབས་ལ་སྤྱིར་བཏང་གི་མི་ཚོ་གནས་དེར་འགྲོ་གི་མེད། ངས་གོ་ཐོས་ལ། ཉིན་མའི་དགུང་ལ་མི་དཀྱུས་མ་དེར་ཕྱིན་ན་ཉེན་ཁ་ཡོད་པ་གོ་ཐོས་བྱུང་། དེ་འདྲ་སོང་ཙང་ས་ཆ་དེར་རྐུན་མ་གླིང་ཁ་ཞེས་མིང་ཐོབ་ཡོད།

So usually normal people they didn't go there that time. I heard, yes. During the day. It is dangerous for normal people to go there. So it is called Künma Lingkha.

ཡང་སེ་དེར་འགྲོ་མྱོང་ཡོད། ངས་རང་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཟ་ཁང་འགོ་འཛུགས་བྱེད་པའི་སྐབས་ལ་འགྲོ་མྱོང་ཡོད། ཟ་ཁང་དེ་ལྷ་སར་རང་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ནུབ་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་ཟས་རིགས་ཟ་ཁང་དང་པོ་དེ་རེད།

Ya, often. Ya, when I open my restaurant. That was my first, ah, western restaurant in Lhasa.

དེའི་སྐབས་ལ་ཡུལ་སྐོར་སྤྲོ་འཆམ་ལ་ཕེབས་མཁན་གྱི་ནུབ་ཕྱོགས་པ་མང་པོ་ཡོད། ཁོང་ཚོ་ཚང་མའི་བསམ་ཚུལ་གཅིག་མཚུངས་ཤིག་ཡོད་པ་དེ་ནི། ལྷ་སར་ཟ་མ་ཡག་པོ་མེད་པའི་བསམ་ཚུལ་དེ་རེད།

So and then, okay, that time many tourists, western tourists. Mostly western tourists, and they, everybody complains like there is no good food in Lhasa. You know.

Because there are some restaurants but Tibetan restaurants or Chinese.

And, run by some Muslim Chinese.

And then okay. I thought I just open a restaurant. Then I open my restaurant in 87.

གཅིག་ནས་ང་ཚོས་དབྱིན་ཇིའི་སྐད་ཡིག་ཤེས་པ་དང་། དེ་མིན་ཟས་རིགས་ཁག་བལ་ཡུལ་ནས་ཚུར་ནང་འདྲེན་བྱེད་ཀྱི་ཡོད།

And then okay, oh, we speak English and then, ah, we put every, most of the food imported from Nepal.

ལྷ་སའི་ནང་ལ་ཟ་ཁང་ཁ་ཤས་ཡོག་རེད། ནུབ་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་ཟས་ཡོད་པའི་ཟ་ཁང་ཁ་ཤས་ཡོད་ཀྱང་། མི་མང་པོ་ཞིག་ངའི་ཟ་ཁང་ལ་སླེབས་ཀྱི་ཡོད།

So the people, they okay, they had, ah, some restaurants in Lhasa. You know western restaurants, so everybody comes here.

ངའི་ཟ་ཁང་ལ་སླེབས་ཙང་ལས་ཀ་མང་པོ་འདུག ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་ཤེས་གསལ་ལྟར། དེ་དང་མཉམ་དུ་སྐབས་རེ་ལབ་གླེང་དང་གནོན་ཤུགས་ཀྱང་སླེབས་ཀྱི་ཡོད། ཉིན་མོའི་སྐབས་ཉིན་ལྟར་ཟ་ཁང་ཆུ་ཚོད་གསུམ་ཙམ་རིང་ལ་སྒོ་བརྒྱབ་ཀྱི་ཡོད།

My place. And then so, okay, a lot of works, you know. Tension, and then stress, then okay. Ah, during the day, I just close down my restaurants. For about three hours.

དེ་དགུང་ཚིགས་གྲ་སྒྲིག་དང་ངལ་གསོའི་ཆེད་དུ་རེད། ཉིན་མོའི་སྐབས་ལ་སྐབས་རེ་རྐུན་མ་གླིང་ཁར་འགྲོ་གི་ཡོད།

For preparation for the dinner, and also to relax, sometimes, you know. And during that day, ah, that time, I just go, to that, ah, Künma Lingkha.

ངས་གོས་ལོག་འགའ་ཤས་མཉམ་དུ་འཁྱེར་བ་དང་། སྐུད་མེད་རླུང་འཕྲིན་ཞིག་ཀྱང་མཉམ་དུ་འཁྱེར་འགྲོ་གི་ཡོད། དེ་མིན་འཐུང་ཆུ་མངར་མོ་ཀོའོ་ཀོ་ཀོའོ་ལཱ་ཁུར་གྱི་ཡོད།

I take some clothes with me. I have a small radio. And then some drinks. Like Coco-Cola that.

གནས་དེར་ཕྱིན་ནས་གཞས་ཉན་པ་དང་། ཆབས་ཅིག་ཏུ་གོས་བཀྲུ་བ། རང་བྱུང་ཁོར་ཡུག་མཛེས་ལྗོངས་ལ་ལྟ་བ་སོགས་སྐབས་དེ་དུས་སྣང་བ་སྐྱིད་པོ་ཡོག་རེད།

And go there, listen to music, wash clothes, and enjoy with nature. You know. It is really, yeah. Very pleasant time, that time. Yes.

གླིང་ཕྲན་དེའི་སྒང་ལ་ཁང་ལ་སོགས་པ་ཡོད་དམ། དཔེར་ན་ཟམ་པ་ལྟ་བུ། ཁྱེད་རང་དེར་གང་འདྲ་བྱས་ནས་འགྲོ་གི་ཡོད་དམ།

Were there any structure on the island? Was there a bridge? How do you get there?

དེར་ཟམ་པ་ཞིག་ཡོག་རེད། ཟམ་པ་རིང་པོ་ཞིག་ཡོད་རེད། དེ་བོད་ཀྱི་སྲོལ་རྒྱུན་ཤིང་གིས་བཟོས་པའི་ཟམ་པ་ཞིག་ཡོག་རེད།

Ah, there was one bridge. It is a long bridge. It is a Tibetan style wooden bridge. Wooden, yeah. Wooden, yes.

ཟམ་པ་རིང་པོ་ཡག་པོ་ཞིག་ཡོད་རེད། ང་ཟམ་པ་དེ་ལ་དགའ་པོ་ཡོད། དེ་ནི་ཧ་ཅང་སྙིང་རྗེ་པོ་ཞིག་ཡོད་རེད། ཟམ་པ་དེའི་ཕྱོགས་གཉིས་ཀར་དར་ལྕོག་མང་པོ་ཡོད་རེད། ཁྱེད་ཀྱིས་ཟམ་པའི་སྒང་ལ་ཕྱིན་ན་དེ་གཡོ་འགུལ་ཐེབས་ཀྱི་རེད།

And, yes quite long and very nice. I like the bridge, the beautiful. And both sides they have prayer flags. You know, very long, And so if you go over the bridge, it shakes, you know.

སྐབས་རེ་ང་ཚོས་ཟམ་པའི་སྒང་ལ་རྩེད་མོ་རྩེ་གི་ཡོད།

So sometimes we play on the bridge also.

སྐབས་དེ་དུས་གླིང་ཕྲན་དེའི་སྒང་ལ་ཐོག་བརྩེགས་ཁང་པ་ལ་སོགས་པ་ཡོད་དམ།

And were there any buildings? Was it looks like, the island?

དེ་དུས་དེར་ཐོག་བརྩེགས་ཁང་པ་ལ་སོགས་པ་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མེད། ལྗོན་ཤིང་དང་རྩ་མང་པོ་ཡོད། ཁང་པ་ཆེན་པོའི་རིགས་གང་ཡང་མེད།

There was no any building that time. Just a lot of trees and bushes, you know. And there is one big house.

དེ་རང་རེད། ཁང་པ་དེ་ནི། ཨམ། ཁང་པ་དེ་ནི་གླིང་ཕྲན་དེར་ལྟ་རྟོགས་བྱེད་མཁན་གྱི་མི་ཁག་ཅིག་གི་ཁང་པ་རེད།

That is, ah, that is, that is a house for the people who look around the island, you know.

Okay. Look after it.

དེ་རང་རེད། ཁོང་ཚོས་ལྟ་རྟོགས་བྱེད་ཀྱི་ཡོད།

Ya. They look after it.

Otherwise, there was nothing.

ད་ལྟའི་དུས་ཚོད་ལ་གླིང་ཕྲན་དེའི་སྟེང་དུ་མི་མང་པོ་འདུག་གམ། ཁོང་ཚོས་ས་གནས་དེར་གཙོ་བོ་ག་རེ་བྱེད་ཀྱི་ཡོད་དམ།

There were a lot of people on the island this time. What were they doing? People who were there.

ཡཱ། ཨམ། ཕལ་ཆེར་ས་ཆ་དེར་རྐྱལ་རྫིང་ཆུང་ཆུང་ཞིག་འདུག དེ་རང་རེད། རྐྱང་རྫིང་ཆུང་ཆུང་ཡོག་རེད།

So, yeah. Um, there is a small swimming pool I think. Ya, there is one small swimming. Yes.

གཞོགས་གཉིས་ཀ་ནས་ཁོང་ཚོས་ས་བྲུས་ནས་མཐའ་ཡོངས་སུ་རྡོ་བརྩེགས་དེ་དཀྱིལ་དུ་ཆུ་བཀང་ནས་བཟོས་ཡོད།

Ah, is both sides is a, they dig the place, and all around they put some rocks and then fill the water.

ཁོང་ཚོས་དེ་ནས་དངུལ་ཕྲན་བུ་བཟོ་ཐུབ་ཀྱི་ཡོག་རེད། དེ་མིན་ཁོང་ཚོས་ཡང་ཚལ་ཡང་བཏབ་ཀྱི་ཡོད།

Ah, so then they get some money from that also. So they do some vegetation also.

གླིང་ཕྲན་དེའི་སྒང་ལ་སྡོད་མཁན་གྱི་མི་དེ་ཚོས། ཁོང་ཚོས་དེ་མིན་གྱི་རིན་པ་གཞན་གང་ཡང་ལེན་གྱི་མེད།

The people who live there, you know. Yah. Then, they don't charge anything else. They didn't charge.

And it is a good place to swim there?

Mostly kids. Yes, mostly kids. Elder people sometimes they go to the riverside.

ཡཱ། ཨམ། ས་ཆའི་དེའི་གནས་འགའ་ཤས་ལ་ཆུ་མཐོ་པོའམ་གཏིང་ཟབ་པོ་མེད།

Ya. Um, some, some part is a, not very high water, you know. So not very deep.

དེ་འདྲ་སོང་ཙང་མི་ཚོས་དེར་ཆུ་རྐྱལ་རྒྱག་གི་ཡོད་པ་དང་། དེ་མིན་གླིང་ཁ་གཏོང་གི་ཡོད། ཁྱེད་ཀྱིས་མི་མང་པོས་གོས་བཀྲུ་བ་དང་། གདན་བཀྲུ་བ་ལ་སོགས་དེ་འདྲ་བྱ་བ་བྱེད་པ་མཐོང་ཐུབ།

So people are swimming there. And picnic. And you would see a lot of people washing clothes, washing the carpet, like that.

Oh, nice.

ད་ག་ནང་བཞིན་དེའི་ཉེ་འགྲམ་དུ་རི་ཡོད་པས། ཡུལ་ལྗོངས་ཧ་ཅང་མཛེས་པོ་ཡོད་པ་དང་། མི་འདྲ་བ་ཞིག་ཡོད།

And the mountain is very, there is a mountain, you know. Is very close by, ya. Something different.

It's very nice.

That sound very good. And, so now what is it like there?

Ah, now, now concrete buildings mostly. Ya, and like I think 95 or 96, they cut down all the trees. You know.

དེ་ནས་ཁོང་ཚོས་ས་ཆ་ཁོད་སྙོམས་པོ་བཟོས་ནས་དེ་ཚོ་བཟོས་པ་རེད། དེང་སང་གནས་དེར་ཚོང་ཁང་དང་མགྲོན་ཁང་ལ་སོགས་པ་ཡོད་རེད་པ་དང་། མི་ཧ་ཅང་མང་པོ་ཡོག་རེད།

And then make it, ah, ah, so leveled. And then cemented and then, now there is many marketplaces and hotels there. It is very crowded now.

ཁྱེད་རང་ས་གནས་དེར་དགའ་པོ་ཡོད་དམ། དེར་ཡང་སེ་འགྲོ་གི་ཡོད་དམ།

Do you like it? Do you go there often?

So one section is, ah, I mention to you, you know, there is a market and hotels, shopping place, and all these, you know.

ཕྱོགས་གཞན་ཞིག་ལ་གླིང་ཁ་གཏོང་ས་ཡོག་རེད། དེ་ནས་ན་ནིང་ངས་གནས་དེར་ཕྱི་དྲོའི་འཆམ་འཆམ་ཕྱིན་པ་ཡིན། ཕྱོགས་གཅིག་ལ་ངས་ལྗོན་ཤིང་མང་པོ་ཡོད་པ་མཐོང་བྱུང་།

Other side is picnic place now. And then, just last year I went, evening walk, you know. Around that island, and then on the section I saw many trees there.

དེ་ནས་དེ་ལོ་ཟླ་བ་གཅིག་དང་ཟླ་ཕྱེད་ཙམ་གོང་ལ་ངས་ས་ཆ་དེ་རང་དུ་ཡར་བསྐྱར་འགྲོ་དུས། ལྗོན་ཤིང་དེ་དག་ཚང་མ་མེད་པ་བཟོས་ཚར་འདུག

And then, ya, then this year just about one and half month ago, I went there and then also these trees were gone.

So there was like new trees?

No, no, no. They building just houses and some hotels. I don't know what. So yeah. That embarrasses me a lot. Yes.

བྱས་ན་ཁྱེད་གནས་དེའི་ད་ལྟའི་གནས་སྟངས་ལ་དེ་ཙམ་དགའ་པོ་མེད་པ་རེད།

And so you don't really like it so much now?

Oh, that time I was in Nepal. And then when I came back, so, they mostly cut down the trees and digging the place, you know.
