84-year-old Kezang from Radhi Gewog, Trashigang, sings an old Boedra song entitled Sharlay Thridug Nima Masharna (If the Sun Does Not Rise from the East). This song describes the preciousness of the sky, sun, stars and religious masters. The song says, in the absence of sky, the sun wont shine; in the absence of the sun, the moon wont shine; in the absence of the moon, the stars wont twinkle; in the absence of the stars, the people will not gather, and in the absence of the people, there will be nobody to offer the song of longevity to a master. Considered an auspicious song, it is performed in auspicious celebrations, occasions and gatherings. The composer and origin of the song are unknown.
