Partshig is sung like a lozey, and it is sung usually during the building of mud walls. People come from different villages to help with the ramming of mud walls of a house. Groups compete against each other through the recitation of lozey. During the competition people might get tired of reciting lozeys. In such case, they can also compete against each other through citing old proverbs.
ཧཱ་ སྐར་ཚོགས་ལས་ ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི་གིས་བཤད་དོ་བཟུམ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ སྤར་ཚིག་བསྐུལ་ནི་དང་བཤད་ནི་འདི་ གནས་སྟངས་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ གྱང་ཁྱིམ་གསཔར་རྐྱབ་ས་ཅིག་ལུ་ གཡུས་ཕྱོགས་སོ་སོ་ལས་ སྤར་འཆམ་པར་འོང་མི་ཚུའི་བར་ན་ བློ་ཟེ་བཟུམ་སྦེ་ཚིག་བཤད་རྐྱབ་ཐངས་གཅིག་དང་ ཞབས་ཁྲ་བཟུམ་སྦེ་གདངས་དང་བཅསཔ་སྦེ་ཡང་འཐེན་སྲོལ་ཡོདཔ་ཨིན་པས། དེ་ཡང་ སྤར་ཚིག་ཕྱད་ཅི་ཕྱད་ཅིག་འབད་དེ་ལྷོདཔ་ཅིག་ དྲག་སྐྱེལ་སུ་ཅིག་སྦེ་འགྱོ་བའི་བསྒང་ལས་ དང་ཕུགས་དཔྱེ་གཏམ་གུ་ལས་འཕྱད་ནི་སྨོ་ བློ་རིག་གི་ཐོག་ལས་འཕྱད་ནི་སྨོ་ཟེར་ དྲི་བ་བཀོད་ཞིནམ་ལས་ ཕར་ལོགས་མའི་ལན་དང་འཁྲིལ་ཏེ་ ལན་འཇལ་ཡི་འཇལ་ཡི་འཕྱད་དོ་ཡོདཔ་ཨིན་མས།

- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiད་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ང་གིས་ད་ནཱ་ལུ་ད་པར་ཚིག་ཅིག་ ཏེ་ནཱ་ལས་ཚིག་བཤད་འབད་ཏེ་ཕུལ་དགེ་ཟེར་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན།Now it is about the Partshig (a song sung while ramming the mud wall during house construction). So, I would like to recite the lyrics of this song.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiད་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ པར་ཚིག་ང་བཅས་པར་ཚིག་ཟེརཝ་ད་ལུ་ད་ང་བཅས་གཡུས་ཁ་ལུ་ ད་ང་བཅས་གཡུས་ཁ་ཧཱ་བཟུམ་ཅིག་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ ད་ང་བཅས་ཁྱིམ་འདི་རྐྱབ་ཚེ་བསྒངཔ་དེ་པར་འཆམ་དེ་སྦེ་གྱང་གི་སྦེ་ས་གི་སྦེ་པར་འཆམ་འདི་རྐྱབ་དགོ་ཟེར་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན།Now, when we talk about the Partshig, in our village, like in the villages of Haa, when ever we construct a houses, we have to ram the mud to build walls.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiད་པར་འཆམ་ད་ལུ་ དེ་བསྒང་ང་བཅས་ཕམ་རྒན་ཤོས་ཚུ་སྡོད་པའི་བསྒང་ལས་ཏེ་པར་འཆམ་བའི་ཟེར་བའི་བསྒང་ལས་པར་ཚིག་བསྐུལཝ་ཟེར་སླབ་ཏེ་པར་ཚིག་བསྐུལ་བའི་ལོ། པར་ཚིག་ཕྱད་པའི་ལོ། ཏེ་ལེ་ཤ་སླབ་ནི་ཡོད།So when ramming the mud, since our forefathers time, there has been a tradition of singing Partshig, contesting Partshig, and so on.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiད་འ་ནཱ་ལུ་འབདཝ་ད་ཏེ་པར་ཚིག་བསྐུལ་ནི་ནང་ལུ་ཏེ་ད་ལྟོ་པར་ཚིག་བསྐུལ་བ་ཅིན་ད་པར་ཚིག་བསྐུལཝ་ད་ལུ་ད་ང་བཅས་པར་ཚིག་ཕྱད་དེ་ཐོན་སོངམ་པ་ཅིན་ཏེ་གཅིག་གཅིག་ལས་གནམ་མེད་ས་མེད་ཏེ་འ་ནཱེ་སྦེ་ད་ང་བཅས་བཟུམ་ཅིག་འབད་བ་ཅིན་བློ་དགྲ་བསྐོར་བཟུམ་ཅིག་འགྱུར་བའི་བསྒང་ལས་ཏེ་འདི་ལས་སླབ་འོང་So, in this tradition, in singing Partshig, if we were to sing Partshig right now or contest in Partshig challenge, the lyrics would turn very combative, and stinging-like.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiད་ང་བཅས་གནམ་མེད་ས་མེད་དང་ཕུགས་ཀྱི་དཔྱེ་གཏམ། དང་ཕུགས་ཀྱི་པར་ཚིག་གནམ་མེད་ས་མེད་ལུང་ཆེན་ལུང་ལས་སླབ་མི་འདི་དང་ཕུགས་ཀྱི་སྔོན་མ་གོང་གོང་ལས་ཡོད་མི་དེ་ད་ལུང་ཆེ་ལུང་ལས་ཟེར།And we call the kind of lyrics passed down from the ancient times Lungchey Lungley (profound quotations from authoritative sources).
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiད་འདི་མེན་པ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ང་བཅས་ཨ་ནཱི་དང་ཕུགས་ཀྱི་འདི་མེན་པའི་རང་གི་སེམས་ཁ་ལས་ཨ་ནཱེ་བལྟ་དེ་བཟོ་ནི་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ལུང་པའི་ལྕགས་སྐྱུ་བསྡུ་བའི་ཟེར་སླབ་སྦེ་Otherwise, if it is not passed down from the ancient times, and the kind that is improvised by the individuals instead, it is called Lungpai Chagchu Duwai (collection of local compositions).
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཏེ་དང་ཕུགས་ང་བཅས་ཨ་ནཱི་པར་ཚིག་འགོ་བཙུགས་ནཱེམ་སྦེ་གཅིག་གཅིག་ཨ་ཙི་ཅིག་ ད་གཡུས་མ་གཅིག་པའི་གཡུས་འདི་མི་འདི་ ད་རེས་ནཱ་ལས་ཀྱི་གཡུས་སྒོ་ནཱ་ལས་ཀྱི་སོ་སོར་ནང་གི་ཅིག་ ད་རུང་སོ་སོ་ནང་གི་ཅིག་ནཱ་ཁྱིམ་རྐྱབ་སུ་གཅིག་གི་ནང་ལུ་པར་འཆམ་པར་འདྲན་འདྲ་ཚུད། ཏེ་ནཱི་གཉིས་ཀུ་གཅིག་གཅིག་ལུ་པར་ཚིག་ཕྱད་ནི་ལུ་ཐོན་སོངམ་པ་ཅིན་ ཏེ་ཕར་གི་འདི་གིས་ཚུར་གི་རྩལུ་སླབ་པའི་བསྒང་ལས།() So, in the olden days, if the people ramming mud in one locality happens to have come from a different locality, or if there happens to be another group of people ramming mud for a different house simultaneously (in the same village), if they happen to engage into partsig exchange, the group on the other side would direct to the one this side:
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཏེ་ཁྱོད་གསུང་ལུང་གཅིག་ལུང་ལས་ཞུ་ནི་སྨོ? So, are you going to recite the old sayings?
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiལུང་པའི་ལྕགས་སྐྱུ་བསྡུ་ནི་སྨོ་ཟེར? Or are you going to recite the local compositions?
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཏེ་གསུངས་ལུང་གཅིག་ལུང་ལས་ཞུ་ནི་ཟེརན། །So if you want to recite the old sayings,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiརྒྱ་བཟའ་བུ་ཁྲི་སྣང་ས་གསུམ། །The three Princesses: Jaza, Bhuti and Nangsa.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiབྱམོ་དཀར་མའི་སྲུང་དང་འདྲ། །It is like the story of a White Bird.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiང་རྡོ་གཅིག་ཨ་ལ་རྐྱབ་རྐྱབ་ཨིན་ལོ་སླབ་སྦེ་ ཏེ་དང་ཕུགས་ཀྱི་དཔྱེ་གཏམ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ ཏེ་འ་ནཱེ་སྦེ་ང་བཅས་པར་ཚིག་འགྱུར་བའི་དཔྱེ་གཏམ་འ་ནཱེ་སྦེ་འདུག་ཟེར་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན་ལགས།I have thrown a stone that to a crow. By saying like this, this was how the Partshig is said to have been recited in the olden days la.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཏེ་ད་གསུང་ལུང་གཅིག་ལུང་ལས་ཟེར་བའི་བསྒང་ལས་ག་སོངམ་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ང་བཅས་དང་ཕུགས་སྔོན་མ་སྔོན་མ་ལས་ཕམ་ཕམ་མའི་སྐབས་ལས་རོགས་ཨ་ནཱི་དཔྱེ་གཏམ་ལས་ཨ་ནཱི་ཚུ་སྤུ་ར་ག་རཤེས་མི་འདི་ལུ་ ཏེ་ད་ལུང་གཅིག་ལུང་ལས་ཟེར།() So now, when we talk about Sung Lungchi Lunglay, it refers to Partshig that have been recited since the olden days, during our forefathers’ time.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiད་ལུང་པའི་ལྕགས་སྐྱུ་བསྡུ་ནི་ཨིན་ན་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ ཏེ་ད་དང་ཕུགས་ཀྱི་དཔྱེ་གཏམ་རྐྱབ་དགོཔ་མིན་འདུག་ ད་ང་བཅས་ར་གཅིག་གཅིག་གིས་ཨ་ནཱི་བློ་རིག་སྦེ་སླབ་ནི་ཨིན་ན་ཟེར ང་བཅས་འབད་བ་ཅིན་གཅིག་གཅིག་ལུ་ད་པར་ཚིག་ལུ་གནང་ཁ་བཏང་དོ་བཟུམ་ཅིག་མས། འ་ནེ་སྦེ་ཕྱད་པའི་ཟེར་མས།? Now, if the question is whether (we) want to recite Lungpai Chagchu, it means that there is no need to recite the ancient lyrics, and is like asking whether we want to use the improvisations instead. It actually is like laying the ground rules for the Partshig contest. That is how it is said to be done.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཏེ་ད་ལྟོ་ང་གིས་འདི་གན་སྨོ་ག་ཅི་སྨོཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ད་ད་ལྟོ་ང་གིས་པར་ཚིག་གི་ཚིག་འདི་ཨ་ནཱེ་ཚིག་བཤད་སྦེ་གཅིག་སླབ་གེ་ཟེར་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན།() So now, I would like to recite some lyrics of Partshig.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiད་འདི་གན་སྨོ་ག་ཅི་སྨོཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ང་བཅས་དང་ཕུགས་ཀྱི་དཔྱེ་གཏམ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ ལུང་གཅིག་ལུང་ལས་ཞུཝ་ཟེར་སླབ་མི་དེའེ་གྲང་ལས་བཟུམ་སྦེ་དང་ཕུགས་ཀྱི་ཏེ་དཔྱེ་གཏམ་མས། ད་འ་ནཱི་གི་པར་ཚིག་འདི་དང་ཕུགས་སྔོན་གོང་གོང་ལས་ར་ཏེ་དར་ཁྱབ་འགྱོ་འ་ནཱེ་སྦེ་ཡོད་པའི་སྐོར་ལས་པར་ཚིག་གཅིག་ཏེ་ང་ནཱ་ལས་ནཱ་ལུ་ ཏེ་ད་ལྟོ་ཚིག་བཤད་སྦེ་སླབ་གེ་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན་ལགས། ཕལ་གེ་ཟེར།() This is among the Lungchi Lunglay kind of Partshig that has been recited since the olden days. The Partshig that I am going to recite has been popular since the olden days. I will right now riecite its lyrics.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiས་འཛམ་གླིང་སའི་ལྟེ་བ་ལུ། །At the center of the world,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiདཔལ་མི་འགྱུར་ཆོས་འཁོར་ལྷ་ས། །The glorious unchanging Lhasa where the wheel of Dharma was turned,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཇོ་བོ་སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས་སྐུ་མདུན་ལུ། །In front of Lord Avalokiteswara,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཤིང་དཔག་བསམ་ལྗོན་ཤིང་བཙུགས་དགོ་པས། །A Wish Fulfilling Tree needs to be planted.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཤིང་དཔག་བསམ་ལྗོན་ཤིང་བཙུགས་པ་ལུ། །To plant the Wish Fulfilling Tree,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཕར་ས་གཞི་སྐམ་ལས་བསྒྲིག་དགོ་ལོ། །It is said that the aridity of the land must be suitable,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཏེ་སོན་ས་གཞི་སྐམ་ལས་བསྒྲིག་པ་ལུ། །So, to adjust the aridity of the land to the seed,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཤར་ནོར་བུ་གླིང་ལས་ཁྲི་གདུགས་ཤར།།The sun shines from the Eastern Land of Jewels,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiནུབ་བར་མི་རི་ལས་བྱཱ་འཆར་འབབ། །The monsoon falls from the middle of the Western hills,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiབྱང༌ཙན༌དན་ནང༌ལས༌དྲི་ཅིག་བཅད། །A scent is extracted from the cypress grove in the North,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiས༌གཞི༌སྐམ༌ལས༌ནཱེ་བསྒྲིག་ལོ། །That is how the aridity of the land is adjusted.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཤར་ནོར་བུ་གླིང་ལས་ཁྲི་གདུགས་ཤར། །The sun shines from the Eastern Land of Jewels,

- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiརྩཝ༌རྒྱས༌ཤིང༌འདྲཝ༌ཅིག༌ས༌ལུ༌བཀྲམ། །The root, like a Geyshing (a tree), is spread in the ground,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiརྩེ་མནྜལ་འདྲཝ་ཅིག་གནམ་ལུ་བཏོན། །The top, like a Mandala, is exposed to the sky,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiའདབ་མ་གཡུ་ལས་འདྲཝ་ཅིག་མཐར་ལས་སྐྱུར། །The leaves, like a turquoise, is dangling from the side,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiམེ་ཏོག་རྒྱ་ཆེ་འདྲཝ་ཅིག་ མེ་ཏོག་རྒྱ་ཆེ་འདྲཝ་ཅིག་དགུང་ལས་སྤུབས། །The flower, like a Jachhey (vast sky?), the flower, like a Jachhey covered overhead,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiརྡོག་མ་ནོར་བུ་འདྲཝ་ཅིག་སྦུག་ལུ་བཙུགས་ཟེར། །The fruit, like a jewel, is borne in the middle,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཏེ་ནཱེ་ལས་ཟུར་ཅིག་རྒྱ་ལུ་བཀལ། །A little bit of it is sent to India,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiརྒྱ་ངམ་བཟོ་ཅན་མའི་ལག་ལུ་སྤྲོད། །It is handed to a pompous Indian,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiལ་ཐོག་ཚེ་ཨེ་ཏོག་མེ་ཏོག །The rhododendron of the high hills,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiརྒྱ་ངམ་བཟོ་ཅན་མ་སླབ་ཚེ། །The pompous Indian says,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiལ་མཐོ་སའི་ཨེ་ཏོག་མེ་ཏོག །The rhododendron of the high hills,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiགནས་པའི་གངས་དཀར་ཁཝ། །The white snow of the mountains,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiནང་གཟུགས་འཚོ་བའི་མདངས་ཟེར། །Is the shimmer of the body within.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཏེ་ནཱེ་ལས་ཟུར་གཅིག་བོད་ལུ་བསྐྱལ། །And then a bit of it (fruit) is sent Tibet.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiབོད་པད་བསྐོར་ཅན་མའི་ལག་ལུ་སྤྲོད། །It is handed to a flamboyant Tibetan.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiབོད་པད་བསྐོར་ཅན་མ་སླབ་ཚེ། །The flamboyant Tibetan says,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཇ་བཙག་གཡུ་བཅུ་དྲུག་མ། །The tea filter made of thirteen turquoise,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཇ་ངོས་བསོད་ན་མཆོད་ཇ། །The tea of sonam chodja.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཇ་འདེགས་པའི་ངག་དབང་རྣམ་རྒྱལ། །Raise the tea to Ngawang Namyal,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཡར་ཕུད་ཅིག་དྲང་མ་བླམ་ལུ་གཅིག །Offer the first sacred share to the Lama,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiཡར་བྱ་པོད་འབོ་རུང་གནས་པོ་བཅའ། །The host lazy, even when the cock crows over there,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚིབཏོན་ཚེ་རྟ་དང་བོང་མ་བཏོན། །When showing, don’t show the horses and donkeys.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚིཇ་ཕུད་དབང་ཆེན་དཔོན་མ་དྲང་། །Offer the first share of tea to the powerful ruler.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚིཇ་མཆོད་མཚན་ལྡན་བླ་མ་འཇལ། །The accomplished Lama oversees the tea prayers,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚིཇ་ལྟོ་རྐྱབ་སྨན་ཆུང་བུ་མ་དྲང་། །The girls offer tea and food,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚིཟས་ནོར་དང་དངས་སྣངས་དཀར་ཚེ། །When the wealth and its prospects becomes brighter,
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚིཇ་འདི་ལས་མ་འཐུང་ ཇ་འདི་ལས་མ་འཐུང་གཞན་མེད་ཟེར། །Not to drink this tea, there is no other tea to drink than this.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚིད་འ་ནཱི་ཚུ་ང་བཅས་པར་ཚིག་ནང་ལས་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ ཏེ་ད་རེས་ད་ལྟོ་ང་འབདཝ་ད་ཚིག་བཤད་འབད་དེ་སྦེ་སླབ་ཨིན།So if it was in the partsig (singing)- For now I am reciting only the lyrics.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚི Ap Tsi Tsiད་འདི་པར་ཚིག་ནང་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ཏེ་འ་ནཱི་གནམ་མེད་ས་མེད་ང་བཅས་པར་ཚིག་ལུ་བསྐུལ་ཚིག་ཟེར་གྱང་འཁོལ་ཟེར་སླབ་སྦེ་ད་འ་ནཱི་པར་ཚིག་བསྐུལ་མི་གིས་ཏེ་འ་ནཱི་གདངས་སྦེ་འཐེན་འདི་གྱང་སྡོད་འོང།In Partshig (singing) is usually sung with a tune. It is sung by the one who leads the Partshig as the mud is rammed into another layer of wall.
- ཨཔ་ཚི་ཚིཏེ་ད་ལྟོ་འ་ནཱི་འདི་ང་གིས་ཚིག་བཤད་སྦེ་བཏང་འདི་གན་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ ད་ང་བཅས་ཨ་ནཱེ་ཚུ་དང་ཕུགས་ཀྱི་དཔྱེ་གཏམ་སྦེ་སྔོན་མ་སྔོན་མ་ལས་རོགས་ང་བཅས་ཕམ་རྒན་ཤོས་ཚུ་ཤེས་པས། ད་འ་ནཱེམ་ཅིག་འ་ནཱེ་ པར་ཚིག་ཟེར་ཞུ་ནི་ཨིན་ལགས་འ་ནི།So, about the lyrics I recited right now, these were popular since the olden days and sung by our forefathers. So this much… This is called Partshig la.
