While undertaking manual labor such as harvesting wheat, women will often joke and tease each other as they work to help pass the time. Sometimes the content can become rather ribald as a way to fight the exhaustion and boredom of the work of harvesting. In the past, people used to store the harvested wheat in the fields. Nowadays, however, the harvest happens a little earlier in order to prevent wild animals from eating the crops, or the paddy.
