In this video, Tshering Peday from Paccheykha in Punakha sings the zhungdra song “Gungthang Pass in the East”, or “Sharchok Gungthang Lamo.” “Sharchok” means “east,” and in the east there was a person named Gungthang Lamo. Some believed that she was a demon and some that she was a god, there is no clear conclusion on that. Lamo is also a name of a place, basically a hill, and this song is an introduction to that particular hill. This type of old folk song is only familiar to older generations.
