Religion in Bhutan can incoporate Buddhism, Bön, and at times both traditions. A shaman named Jumchum was conducting a Bön divination for illness. There are many types of divination, and Jumchum primarly conducts divination with grains. It is usually done using a bamboo bangchung container (a traditional spherical shaped bamboo plate) filled with rice. It is believed the grain will reveal the cause of illness and the shaman will prescribe the necessary remedies based on the reading.
