དུས་ཤིག་ལ་ཁྱེད་རང་ཁམ་ལུང་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་ཡོངས་འཛིན་དུ་བསྐོ་བཞག་གནང་ཡོད།

At one point you became tutor to Khamlung Rinpoche.

ད་ག་རེད།

Right.

དེ་གང་འདྲ་བྱས་ནས་བྱུང་བ་རེད་དམ།

How did that come about?

དེ་ནི་དེའི་རྗེས་ལ། ཨམ་་་ རིག་གཅིག རིག་གཅིག དེ་དུས་ངེད་རང་ཁམ་ལུང་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་ཡོངས་འཛིན་དུ་བསྐོ་བཞག་བྱས་ཟིན་པ་རེད།

That was also after I, those, um... Rigchen, Rigchen ... I think I was already Khamlung's tutor.

ཁམ་ལུང་རིན་པོའི་གོང་ལ་སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་གཞོན་གཞོན་མང་པོ་ཞིག་ངའི་ཕེབས་ཀྱི་ཡོད།

Ah ... Before that, Lama Khamlung Rinpoche, then these [those] young reincarnations come [would] around.

བླ་མའི་ཡང་སྲིད་དུ་ངོས་འཛིན་ཞུས་པའི་ན་ཆུང་རྣམས་རྟག་ཏུ་བླ་བྲང་དུ་གདན་འདྲེན་ཞུས་ནས་མཉམ་དུ་སློབ་སྦྱོང་སྤྲོད་གནང་གི་ཡོད།

They always tutor, they choose and bring to labrang (lama's residence). And young lamas were educated together.

སེ་ར་དགོན་གྱི། དཔེར་ན་བླ་མ་ཆེ་ཁག་ནང་ནས་ཁྱེད་ཀྱིས་སུ་བདམས་ནའང་འགྲིག་གི་ཡོད།

So therefore that, choosing that, you can choose any from the Sera, for example, from the Sera lamas.

ལྷག་པར་དུ་སེ་ར་བྱེས་ནང་ནས་ཡོངས་འཛིན་དུ་སུ་འོས་གང་འོས་པ་ཁོས་ཚོས་ཐག་གཅོད་གནང་གི་ཡོག་རེད།

Specially Sere Je (College), among the Je, what is good. They [will] choose.

ཁོང་ཚོས་སྔོན་ལ་དགེ་རྒན་གྱི་འོས་མི་འགའ་ཤས་བདམ་ནས། དེ་རྗེས་མོ་ལུང་ཞུ་གི་རེད། དེའི་ཆེད་དུ་

They choose several teachers. And then they will do divination [which] requires higher lamas.

ཁྲི་བྱང་རིན་པོ་ཆེའམ་ཡང་ན་ཁོང་དང་འདྲ་བའི་བླ་མ་ཞིག་དགོས།

Trichang Rinpoche or those things [someone like him].

དེ་ནས་ཁོང་རྣམས་པ་ཚོས་གང་ལ་གང་འོས་པ་བསམ་ཚུལ་འདོན་གནང་གི་རེད།

And then they would suggest that this is the best for this something.

སྐབས་དེ་དུས་ཁམ་ལུང་བླ་བྲང་གིས་ཁྲི་བྱང་རིན་པོ་ཆེར་ཡོངས་འཛིན་ཞིག་བཀོད་སྒྲིག་ཡོང་བའི་སྐྱབས་འཇུག་ཞུས།

I was... At that time, Khamlung labrang asked Trichang Rinpoche [for a tutor].

ཁྲི་བྱང་རིན་པོ་ཆེས་ང་བདམ་གནང་བ་རེད། དེ་འདྲ་རེད།

Trichang Rinpoche chose me. Like that.

ཁམ་ལུང་བླ་བྲང་ལ་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་ཕྱག་མཛོད་ཅིག་ཡོད།

So, therefore, they have Khamlung chakdzö, the treasurer of the Rinpoche.

ཕྱག་མཛོད་དེས་ཁྲི་བྱང་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་གམ་དུ་བཅར་ནས་དགེ་རྒན་གྱི་འོས་མི་དེ་དག་སུ་ཡིན་མིན་སྐོར་ལ་བཀའ་འདྲི་ཞུས། གང་ཡིན་ཟེར་ན་ཁོ་རང་རང་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ངོས་ནས་ཁོང་ཚོ་ངོ་ཤེས་ཀྱི་མེད།

He went to Trichang [Rinpoche] and asked who were those because the chakdzö doesn't [didn't] know.

ཁོང་རང་གསར་པ་རེད། བྱས་ཙང་སུ་ཡག་པོ་ཡོད་པ་དང་། སུ་ཡག་པོ་མེད་པ། སུ་རན་པོ་ཡོད་མིན་སོགས་གང་ཡང་ཤེས་ཀྱི་མེད།

He was a fresher. He doesn't know who is a good scholar, who is not, and who is suitable.

ཁྲི་བྱང་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་མཆོག་ནས་མིང་འགའ་ཤས་བདམ་ནས། ངའི་བསམ་པར་ཕལ་ཆེན་གཟན་རྟགས་བསྒྲིལ་ཡོད་པ་འདྲ།

But Trichang Rinpoche then [picked] few names. And then he also, I think he did divination.

ཁོང་གིས་དེ་ལྟར་གནང་ཡོད་སྲིད། ངས་གཏན་གཏན་ཞུ་ཡག་མེད།

Maybe doing [he did it], I am not sure.

གང་ལྟར་གཟན་རྟགས་བསྒྲིལ་ནས་ངའི་མི་ཐོན། ཁོང་གིས་ "འདི་ཡག་པོ་འདུག" ཞེས་དེ་འདྲ་པོ་གསུངས་གནང་།

So anyway, he tossed, and my name came out. [He said], "This is a good one," something, anyway.

དེ་ནས་ཉིན་གཅིག་ཕྱག་མཛོད་ངའི་རྩར་ལ་ཁ་བཏགས་དང་། ཇ། དེ་མིན་གྱི་འབུལ་རྟེན་བསྣམས་ནས་ཕེབས་ཏེ་ང་ལ་རེ་སྐུལ་ཞུས་སོང་།

And then one day, the chakdzö came and requested me with khadak (ceremonial scarf), and some tea, and something. And made a request.

སྐབས་དེ་དུས་ངེད་རང་སོག་པོའི་ཁང་པར་དུས་ཡུན་ཐུང་ཐུང་ཞིག་གི་རིང་བསྡད་པ་ཡིན།

That time, I was staying in the Mongolian house for a short period.

དེའི་མྱོང་ཚོར་སེམས་ལ་འཇུག་པོ་ཞིག་བྱུང་།

It was an interesting experience.

ཁོང་གིས་དེ་ནས་ང་ལ་ཁོང་གི་བླ་མ་ཁམ་ལུང་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་ཡོངས་འཛིན་གནང་རོགས་ཞེས་རེ་སྐུལ་ཞུས། བོད་སྐད་ནང་བླ་མའི་དགེ་རྒན་ལ་ཡོངས་འཛིན་ཟེར།

Then [he] wanted [me] to be the tutor of Khamlung Rinpoche. Yongdzin (tutor), right? Yongdzin.

བྱས་ཙང་ཐོག་མར་ངས་ཁས་ལེན་ཞུས་མེད།

So, at first, I didn't accept it.

ངས་ "མིན། མིན། མིན། ངས་བླ་མའི་ཡོངས་འཛིན་བྱེད་ཐུབ་ས་མ་རེད། ང་ལ་ངེས་པ་རྙེད་ཐུབ་པ་ཞིག་བྱུང་མ་སོང་། ངས་ཡོང་ས་མ་རེད། གཞན་ལ་བཀའ་འདྲི་གནང་རོགས།" ཞེས་ཞུས་པ་ཡིན།

I said, "No! No! No! I can't be yongdzin [for] a lama. I am not sure. I can't. You can ask somebody else."

ཐོག་མར་ངས་ཁས་ལེན་ཞུས་མེད།

At first, I didn't accept it.

ཁྲི་བྱང་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ངའི་རྩ་བའི་བླ་མ་རེད། ངས་ཁོང་གི་དྲུང་ནས་ཆོས་མང་པོ་ཞུས་པ་ཡིན།

Trichang Rinpoche is my lama, guru. I got Buddhist teachings from him.

ངས་རྗེས་ལ་ལན་བྱས་ཡོང་བཤད་པ་ཡིན།

I [told him I will] let him know.

དེའི་རྗེས་ལ་ཕྱག་མཛོད་ཀྱི་ང་ལ་དེ་ལྟར་གསུངས་བྱུང་ "ང་ཚོས་ཁྲི་བྲང་རིན་པོ་ཆེར་སྐྱབས་འཇུག་ཞུས་པ་ཡིན། ཁོང་གི་གཟན་རྟགས་བསྒྲིལ་ནས་ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཐོན་སོང་། བྱས་ཙང་ཞལ་བཞེས་གནང་རོགས།" ཞེས་གསུངས་བྱུང་།

Then later he (the chakdzö) said, "We requested Trichang Rinpoche. He did divination, and your name came out. So please!"

མཐའ་མ་དེར་ངས་ཁས་ལེན་བྱས་པ་ཡིན།

Then finally I accepted it.

རང་གིས་ཁས་ལེན་ཞུས་པའི་རྗེས་ལ་དེ་ནས་ཁོང་རྣམ་པའི་བླ་གྲང་དུ་སྤོས་པ་ཡིན།

So that is why. Once you accept it, you have to move there to their house, labrang.

བཤད་མི་དགོས་པ་ལྟར་རང་གི་ཤག་ཆུང་ཆུང་ཞིག་ཡོད་པ་དེར་གནས་སྡོད་བྱས་པ་ཡིན།

Of course, then you have your little room. Up and go there.

དེ་དུས་ཞལ་ལག་ལ་སོགས་པ་དགོས་མཁོ་ཆ་ཚང་ཁོང་རྣམ་པས་གོ་སྒྲིག་ཞུས་ཡོད།

They feed and [provide] everything in those days.

དེ་ནས་བླ་བྲང་ནང་དུ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ལྷན་དུ་བསྡད་པ་ཡིན།

Now [Then] I stayed in the labrang with Rinpoche.

ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་ཆེད་དུ་ཞལ་ལག་དང་གང་དགོས་པ་ཆ་ཚང་དེ་ནས་གོ་སྒྲིག་གནང་གི་ཡོད།

And for you, food and everything was there.

དེ་དུས་ང་རང་ལ་དགེ་ཕྲུག་འགའ་ཤས་ཡོད་པ་ཁོང་ཚོས་རྟག་ཏུ་བླ་བྲང་དུ་ངའི་རྩར་ནས་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སློབ་ཚན་ཉན་པར་སླེབས་ཀྱི་ཡོད།

Then I had some students always coming to labrang, for teachings and lessons.

བླ་བྲང་དེ་ཁང་ཚང་གང་གི་ནང་དུ་ཡོད་དམ།

And this labrang was in which khagntsen (house)?

པ་ཏི་ཁང་ཚན།

Pati khangtsen (house).

ཁྱོན་ཁང་ཚན་གཉིས་ཡོད། གཅིག་ནི་གཙང་པ་ཁང་ཚན་དང་། གཅིག་ཤོས་དེ་ནི་པ་ཏི་ཁང་ཚན་རེད།

There are two khangtsens. One is Tsangpa khangtsen, and one is Pati khangtsen.

ཁོང་གི་ཤག་པ་ཏི་ཁང་ཚན་ནང་ལ་ཡོག་རེད།

So his house is in Pati khangtsens.

ཕལ་ཆེར་སྔོན་མ་བར་སྐབས་ཤིག་དེར་འགྲོ་དུས་བླ་བྲང་གཏོར་ཚར་འདུག

I think last time when I went there, the labrang was destroyed.

འོན་ཀྱང་ཁང་ཚང་འདུག བྱས་ཙང་དེའི་ཤག་ལ་བསྡད་པ་ཡིན།

But their khangtsens itself [was there], [I] stayed in khangtsen' house.

ལྷོ་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་ཟུར་དེར་ཁམ་ལུང་བླ་བྲང་སྔར་ཡོད་ཀྱང་། འོན་ཀྱང་དེ་གཏོར་ཚར་འདུག

South of that corner, Khamlung labrang was there. But it was destroyed.

བླ་བྲང་གཏོར་བའི་རྗེས་ལ་ཁང་པ་དམའ་པོ་ཆུང་ཆུང་འགའ་ཤས་གནས་དེར་བསྐྲུན་འདུག

Not there. Some low houses [were] built [there] after the destruction [of the labrang].
