In this video, Thangka Peljor sings “The Beautiful Yak Lhadar Gaw” (Yak Lekpe Lhadar Gaw). The song describes the feelings of Lhadar, a yak who was grazing in a beautiful meadow when he finds out he will be slaughtered for a ritual. The lyrics begin with a description of the beautiful landscape he finds himself in, and the food he enjoys in the high mountains of Bhutan. Suddenly, all the joys of his life come to an end when his owner receives an order from a powerful local lord to slaughter and offer him in a propitiating ritual. In the song, the yak expresses his sadness about his fate. This is a melodious and sentimental song. Unfortunately, the singer could not finish it because of forgetting a few stanzas.
