In Bhutan, poetry is considered a means for remembering oral history, traditional customs, and so forth. In the past, poetry was commonly orally recited or sung at gatherings, and other occasions. This particular poem was written by Karna Kumar Ghalley himself. He says he has been writing poem and stories since a young age. This poem glorifies the country of Bhutan.

- Karna Kumar Ghalleyད་ང་བཅས་འབྲུག་རྒྱལ་ཁབ་ཀྱི་དོན་ལུ་གཙང་མོ་ རྫོད་ཚིག་ད྄ུག་དང་བདུན་དེ་བྲིས་ཡོད་ འ་ནི་འི་ང་ལྷག་ནི་ཨིན། I have written a short poem on "Our Bhutan" which is of six to seven lines. I want to recite it. The title is "Our Bhutan."

Air, water are beautiful in our Bhutan, tigers, bear, elephants, deer are all our friends

Good knowledge, good wisdom, let it be given to the people, Let us bring peace in the country and make it beautiful

To bring development in the country let us be ready, let us two brothers stay in cooperation

Fifty years back how was our Bhutan, during the 4th and 5th king's rule was like a garland
- Karna Kumar Ghalleyརྒྱལ་ཁབ་ཆུང་འདི་འབད་རུང་ མངའ་བདག་རྒྱལ་པའི་བཀའ་དྲིན་ལས་ བཟའ་མཐུང་བཀལ་ངལ་མེད་པར་ཡོད། ། འབྲུག་གི་མཐའ་ཟུར་གཡུས་ཁ་ལས་སོ་ནམ་ལམ་ལྷོད་ཅི་ མེ་ཕྱད་ཚར་མ་གློག་མེ་ལྷོད་འདི་ཡོད། ། Though the country is small, still development is a necessity. May the blessing shine upon the king and the people.The remote places of Bhutan is connected with road, electricity is used instead of lamp.
- Karna Kumar Ghalleyསྒོ་ནོར་སེམས་ཅན་འདི་ཚུ་ང་བཅས་རྒྱལ་ཁབ་ནང་ མཛེད་པའི་བེ་ལ་བ་གསོ་འཚོར་བ་ཡར་རྒྱལ་བཏང་ཡོད། ། རྩ་ཆུ་ལྡན་པའི་སྤང་ནང་ནོར་འཚོ་འདི་གི་ ཨོམ་དང་མར་དརཝ་བཙོང་འདི་གི་ཁྱིམ་ནང་ཕན་ཐོག་ཡོད། ། Animals in Bhutan are raised for the betterment, By raising Jersey let us make our life more beautiful. The beauty of greenery can be made by cows grazing on it, By selling curd, milk and butter let's help home by generating income.
