Sonam Wangmo from Gangzur in Lhuntse District sings "Choeki Tsawa Mitsug." This song talks about the consecration of Chokor Lhasa, in Tibet, by Shakyamuni Buddha. It metaphorically describes “dancing inwardly” as keeping the inner jewels in one’s heart; and “dancing outwardly” as the subjugation of evil spirits and demons. Since this song is about a religious consecration, it is normally sung at religious ceremonies. This is a popular song that is played in the media broadcasting as well. While the origins of the song are unknown, however there are reports that it used to be sung at the royal court and in battle expeditions.
