The video deals with offering dinner to lay monks or priests after a day's ritual engagement is over. While general etiquette of seating the priests and serving them, is quite similar across the country, using banana leaves for plates and cups is rather unique to some villages in the eastern and central Kheng region of Bhutan. In the footage, one can see the host of the dinner serve the alcohol before the food. The priest recites the offering of the food to the Buddha and other spiritual worlds before they eat as well as after finishing the meal, the priests again recite the dedication of the merit of the dinner offer, for the benefit of the host and other sentient beings. In this manner local traditions become interwoven with Buddhist beliefs.
