Damey Doya, an elder from Singye village in Samtse district, talks about how the Singye community, also known as the Doya community, bury their dead according to the local tradition. He speaks in his native language called "Lhopu". The dead bodies are buried next to the house within a stone mound. The body is put upright, in a sitting posture, facing the direction of the rising sun. In addition he says that the belongings of the deceased accompany the body in the stone mound.
