The Layap community have a strong proficiency in ballad narration. Pasang from Lungo village in Gasa Dzongkhag (district) recites a ballad called "Khaychi Thue" (Hearing of Voice). The ballad employs metaphors referring to the sun, snow lion, gold fish among others. These metaphors are representations of the voices of men and women. The lyrics of the ballad glorify the voice of the villagers.
