Singing songs of auspiciousness is considered an important factor in having a good harvest. During paddy harvesting, a farmer will be the lead singer, holding hay for a whole day while other workers recite the ‘Babshey Ba’ whenever he recites the invocation to the god of wealth. It is believed that, when a farmer sings this song, the “mother of bountiful harvests” blesses them with an abundant harvest. According to narrator, it is said that this song is sung differently in the morning, afternoon and evening. There are only few people who can still sing this song.

- ན་ཀུ Nakuད་ དེ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ ད་ ང་བཅས་ནཱ་གཡུས་ཀྱི་ ཨེ་ཧེ་་་ང་ཏེ་ ཧེ་མ་ཆུང་ཀུ་བསྒང་ལུ་ བསྐོར་སོང་སྟེ་ ཨ་ཙི་ཅིག་ལས་ ཁོང་ཨ་རྒས་ཚུ་ ནཱ་གཡུས་ཁར་ རེད་རེ་བརྡུང་དེ་ལགས། ཨ་ནཱ་ རེད་བརྡུང་པའི་བསྒང་ ཏེ་དེ་ལས་ ཁོང་མི་སྦོམ་ཚུ་གིས་ བསྐུལ་ད་ལུ་ ཏེ་ཁོང་ཚུ་འུ་སྡུག་ད་ ང་གིས་ ཨ་ཙི་རེ་བསྐུལ་ ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ ཨ་ཙི་རེ་དྲག་ནི་མས་ཟེར་ ཁོང་ཚུ་གིས་ ཨ་ནཱེ་སྦེ་ རེད་ཨ་ནཱེ་སྦེ་བསྐུལ་དེས་ལགས།Now if it is like this, instantly, in our village when I was small and just passed twelve years, after short duration grand fathers used to harvest paddy. That time during the harvesting, when elder people were tired of singing they would tell I might be better in singing and then I would sing
- ན་ཀུ Nakuད་བསྐུལ་ནི་ཟེར་རུང་ ད་ཁོང་ མི་སྦོམ་ཚུ་གིས་ ཧེ་མ་གི་ ཉམས་མྱོང་ཡོད་ནི་དེ་གིས་ ང་བཅས་ཀྱིས་ བལྟཝ་ད་ལུ་བསྐུལ་ཟེར་ སླབ་ད་ལུ་ ཏེ་ད་ ང་བཅས་ འགོ་ར་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ ང་བཅས་ ལཱ་འབད་མི་ཚུ་ བསྡུ་རུ་རུ་སྦེ་སྡོད་དེ་ དེ་ལས་ ལཱ་འབད་མི་གཅིག་བཏོན་ཏེ་ རེད་བརྡུང་སྟེ་ར་འབག་འོང་། དེ་ལས་ ལཱ་འབད་མི་བཏོན་ཏེ་ ཡ་་་ང་གིས་ འབབ་ཤིག་བསྐུལ་ཟེར་ སླབ་འོང་།Now like this the elder people in olden days with good experinces, from our view like I say now we all what because we from those working stay after that by identifying one among workers would continue harvesting working. After the worker has been identified I would also sing baabshey.
- ན་ཀུ Nakuཏེ་འབབ་ཤིག་བསྐུལ་ནི་འདི་ ཇོ་བདག་གིས་ ཏེ་བསྐུལ་དགོ་པའི་ ཁུངས་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན། ལཱ་རྒྱབ་བཟུམ་ཅིག་སྦེ་ཨིན་ཟེར་ ལཱ་རྒྱབ་བཟུམ་ཅིག་སྦེ་ཨིན་ཟེར། དེ་ལས་ ཨ་ནཱི་འབབ་ཤིག་མ་བསྐུལ་བ་ཅིན་ ལཱ་ལེགས་ཤོམ་མི་འབད་ལགས། དེ་ལས་ ཏེ་ད་ འབབ་ཤིག་བསྐུལ་བཏངམ་ད་ལུ་ རང་བཞིན་མེད་པར་ ལན་སླབ་དགོ། མ་སླབ་པ་ཅིན་ ཕར་ཚུར་ཐོན་ནིརང་མེད།The reason for singing baabshey is to run the work smoothly without any consequences and it has to ordered by owner as they are considered to be supervisor. We have to response back and if we do not response, then we won't sing for eachother.
- ན་ཀུ Nakuཏེ་དེ་ལས་ འབབ་ཤིག་བསྐུལ་ཞིནམ་ལས་ ཏེ་དེ་ལས་ ཁོང་ཚུ་འགྱོ་ནི་མེད་པར་ ང་བཅས་ཚུ་གིས་ ཏེ་འབབ་ཤིག་ག་ཅི་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ ཨ་ནཱ་ལས་ ཧེ་མ་ར་ ང་བཅས་ཚུ་གིས་ འབབ་ཤིག་འབོ་དགོ་ཡི་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ ཏེ་ད་ ཁྱོད་ཚུ་འབབ་ཤིག་ ལན་སླབ་མས་ཟེར། ཡ་ད་་ང་གིས་བསྐུལ་གེ་མས་ཟེར། ཡ་ཡ་ཟེར་ ཁོང་ཚུ་གིས་ དེ་ལས་ཏེ་ ཨ་ནི་སྦེ་བསྐུལ་འོང་ཏེ།After baabshey is being sung, they won't go and we used to ask what is mean by baabshey. One will lead the song and from there we have to response.
- ན་ཀུ Nakuཏེ་དེ་ལས་ ཧེ་མ་ར་ཏེ་ འབབ་ཤིག་ཚར་གསུམ་འབོ་དགོ། ཨོ་འབབ་ཤིག་པ་ཟེར་ སླབ་འོང། དེ་ལས་ ཁོང་ཚུ་གིས་ ཨོ་འབབ་ཤེས་བ། ག་ར་གིས་ར་ སླབ་འོང་ལགས། ཏེ་ད་རུང་ ཨོ་འབབ་ཤེས་བ་ཟེརཝ་ད་ལུ། ཨོ་འབབ་ཤེས་བ། ཁོང་ཚུ་གིས་ ཨ་ནཱེ་སྦེ་སླབ་འོང་། ཏེ་ཚར་གསུམ་འབད་དགོ། ཨོ་འབབ་ཤིག་བ། ཨོ་འབབ་ཤིག་བ་ཟེར། དེ་ལས་ཏེ་ དེ་ལས་ འགོ་བཙུགས་འོང་ལགས།So for the first time, one has to sing baabshey for three times and then all will repeat as per the lead. After being repeated for three times, then the baabshey starts from there.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuའབབ་ཤིག་ལ་འབབ་ཤིག་གཡང་འབབ་ཤིག །ཏེ་ཁོང་ཚུ་གིས་The one who lead will sing let the prosperity be baabshey baabshey and they will repeat
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuཨའེ་་་གཡང་སྒོ་འབབ་ཤིག་བ། །ཁོང་ཚུ་གིས་ ཨ་ནཱེ་སྦེ་ ལན་མཇལ་འོང་། ད་རུང་ ལོག་སྟེ་ར་ཏེ།Then they will repeat let the door of prosperity be baabshey. Again
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuའབབ་ཤིག་ལ་དེ་རིང་བཟང་པོ་ཡིན། །ད་རུང་ ལན་མཇལ་འོང་ལགས། དེ་ལས་ འབབ་ཤིག་ལན་མཇལ་ཏེ།Let the good be baabshey as today is good day. Again they will repeat.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuའབབ་ཤིག་ལ་ཁམས་གསུམ་མ་བུ་ན། །Let the three realm baabshey
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuཞིང་གི་ལ་ལྷ་མོ་ཐུགས་སྨོན་གྱིས། །By the grace of Goddess of the land
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuཨའེ་་་གཡང་སྒོ་འབབ་ཤིག་འབབ། །ས་ལ་འདབ་རྒྱས་ཐོག་ལས་གཡང་ཞུ་གེ །Let the door of prosperity be baabshey. Let the prosperity be grace from the land of petals.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuཨའེ་གཡང་སྒོ་འབབ་ཤིག་འབབ། །ལ་ལུ་གི་ལན་མ་མཇལཝ་ད་ལུ་ མ་འཇལ་ལན་འཇལ་ ཁྱོད་ཚུ་ལུ་མ་བཏུབ་ནི་གི་ དམིགས་པ་ཨིན་པས། མ་འཇལ་མི་ཚུ། ཁྱོད་ཚུ་ག་ར་ ཕྱི་ཁར་མ་སྡོད། ཁརཝ་བཤེད། ཡ་ཁྱོད་ཚུ་ད་འབདན་ རབ་རབ་འབད་མས་ཡ། ང་བཅས་ཀྱིས་ ཞིང་གི་ལྷ་མོ་ཐུགས་མི་དགྱེས་མས། ཁོང་སྦྱིན་བདག་གིས་ཡང་ འབབ་ཤིག་མ་མཇལ་ད་ལུ་ སེམས་མི་དགའ་མས་ཟེར་སླབ་ད། ཏེ་ད་ ཨ་ནཱ་འབབ་ཤིག་ ད་རུང་བསྐུལ་འོང་། དེ་ལས་འབདན་ ང་བཅས་ཀྱིས་ ཆ་མ་གི་ ཨ་ནཱེ་འབད་སྦེ་If somebody is not repeating with the leader, then they will not be allowed to stay with them as they have a believe that the goddess of land won't be pleased if they never sing. Even the owner of the house won't be happy and they need to sing in any case.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuགསེར་གྱི་ལ་་་་ད་དོག་ས་ཨིན་མས་་་་་ལ་དོག་ས་གདན་འདྲེན། །དེ་ལས་ ཁོང་གིས་ལན་མཇལ་འོང་། དེ་ལས་ཨ་ནཱ་ལས་Mountain of gold is in trouble and need to be received. Then they will repeat and goes on.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuགསེར་གྱི་ལ་དོག་ས་པར་རི། །Mountain of gold is heap on the carpet.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuབློ་གི་མིང་ལུ་ པ་རི་ཟེར་ བློ་བརྟན་བརྟན། ཏེ་ད་ དེ་ལས་འབདན་ དེ་ལས་འབདན་ཏེ། དེ་ལས་ ཕྱི་ཁར་ལས་ གཡང་ཞུ་བར་འགྱོ་འོང་ལགས། ཏེ་ད་འགྱོཝ་ད་ དེ་ལས་འབདན་ཏེ།From there, then all the people from outside will go to receive the blessing of prosperity.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuས་པདྨ་ལ་འདབ་རྒྱས་ཐོག་ལས་ཞུ། །From the land of blooming petals.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuརྒྱ་རྡོ་རྗེ་ལ་གདན་ལས་གཡང་ཞུ་བར། །ཏེ་ཁོང་ཚུ་གིས་ ལན་མཇལ་ད་ལུ།Prosperity from Bodha Gaya when they reponse.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuཨའེ་་གཡང་སྒོ་འབབ་ཤིག་འབབ།Let the door of prosperity be baabshey.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuཕུག་དུང་ཕུག་ལ་བསམ་དུ་འབྱུ་རུ་འབྱུ་རུ། །Grains heap like mountains so high.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuང་བཅས་མར་གྱི་ ལམ་མཇུག་གི་ལམ་།Our way is lat way for us.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuམདའ་བུ་ན་ལ་ཐོག་ལས་གཡང་ཞུ་བར། །Let the prosperity be grace from the middle of arrows.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuདབའི་ཤར་གྱིང་དུག་ཁ་དཀར་ལ་ཁ་ནག་འོང་ཞུ་བར། །If the god of east is coming for the prosperity.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuཞུ་བ་ལ་འགོ་ཤོག་བྱོན་མ་དགོ །Please come in first place.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuགཡང་གི་ལ་ཨ་མ་ས་ལ་རེད། །Mother of prosperity is on the land.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuས་ལ་ལ་ཕུར་ཙི་ཙམ་དུ་འབབ། །Let the prosperity of land be powder.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuགཡང་གི་ཨ་མ་རྡོ་ལ་རེད། །Mother of prosperity is in the stone.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuརྡོ་ལ་ཟིལ་པ་ཙམ་དུ་འབབ། །Let the prosperity of stone be like pieces.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuདབའི་ཞིང་གི་་་་དབའི་་་དབའི་ཞིང་་་་དབའི་ཞིང་་་་་དབའི་གཡང་གི་ལ་ཨ་མ་ཤིང་ལ་རེད། །Mother of prosperity is in the field.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuཤིང་གི་ལ་ལོ་མ་ཙམ་དུ་འབབ། །Let the prosperity of tree be like leaves.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuདབའི་ཞིང་གི་་་་་་དབའི་ཞིང་གི་གཡང་གི་ལ་ཨ་མ་གནམ་ལ་རེད། །Mother of prosperity is in the sky.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuགནམ་གྱི་ལ་སྐར་མ་ཙམ་དུ་འབབ། །Let the prosperity of sky be like stars.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuའོ་་་་འབབ་ཤིག་འབབ་ཟེར་ཏེ་ ཉི་མའི་ལྟོ་ཁར་ ཚར་ཅིག་ཨ་ནཱེ་ཅིག་སྦེ་ བར་འཚམས་བཞག་འོང་ལགས། དེ་ལས་ ད་རུང་ ཉི་མའི་ལྟོ་བཟའ་ཞིནམ་ལས་ མདངས་གཅིག་པ་ཟེར་ འཐེན་ནི་འོང་ལགས། མདངས་གཅིག་ཟེར་ མདངས་གཅིག་པ་འདི་ ཁོང་ཨམ་འདི་ཚུ་ བསྐུལ་ད་ལུ་ ང་བཅས་ཀྱིས་ ལན་རྐྱབ་འོང་།From there, they will take break for lunch. After lunch, women will sing a single tune song and we men should repeat them.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuའབབ་ཤིག་འབབ་ཤིག་གཡང་འབབ་ཤིག །Let the prosperity be baabshey.

- ནག་ཀུ Nakuབྱོན་ལམ་ཉག་ཏེ་དཔོན་བྱོན་དོ། །King is coming on the way.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuདཔོན་དང་ཆགས་ཏེ་འོང་བྱན་དོ། །Prosperity is coming with the king.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuགཡང་གི་ཨ་མ་རྡོ་ལ་རེད། །Mother of prosperity is in the stone.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuརྡོ་ལ་ཟིལ་པ་ཙམ་དུ་འབབ། །Let the prosperity of stone be like pieces.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuརྒྱ་ལམ་གཞུང་གི་དཔོན་བྱོན་དོ། །King of India government is visiting.
- ནག་ཀུ Nakuདཔོན་དང་ཆགས་ཏེ་འོང་ཞུ་བ། །Prosperity is coming with the king.

- ནག་ཀུ Nakuའབབ་ཤིག་འབབ་ཤིག་གཡང་འབབ་ཤིག །Let the prosperity be accumulated more and more.

Some will take forty bowls, some will take thirty bowls and many will take forty bowls at the maximum.
