Video Overview
In the past the tradition of narrating and singing ballads was popular among the youth. It was a manner of indirect and ritualistic expression of emotions through poetry sung in verses. Tsangmo can be sung to express love, hatred or any other feeling. They are never danced to, it is rather a poetry song, and usually a composition limited to a verse of four lines for a single expression. It is sung with a counterpart, usually between male and female opponents. The Tsangmo poems sung in this video contain a mixture of emotions including regret, gratitude, hatred and dissatisfaction.
