༉ ཨ་ལོ་ཨ་ལོ་ཨ་མ། ཟེར་ པདྨ་དགའ་ཚལ་ ཤུ་མར་ལས་ རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་གིས་འབད་ འཁྲུལ་སི་སི་སྦེ་ འཐེན་ནི་འདུག ཡོངས་གྲགས་ལུ་ ཤར་ཕྱོགས་པའི་ཨ་ལོ་ཟེར་ སླབ་སྲོལ་ཡོད་རུང་ ཨ་ལོའི་ཚིག་ཚུ་ མང་ཤོས་ཅིག་རང་ ཆོས་སྐད་དང་རྫོང་ཁ་ཤར་ཕྱོགས་པའི་ཁ་སྐད་ཚུ་ ཨ་ཙི་རེ་ བསླ་སྲེས་མཚམས་ཅིག་སྦེ་ར་འོངམ་ཨིན། ཨ་ལོའོ་ ཟེར་བའི་ཚིག་གི་དོན་དག་སོ་སོ་ཅིག་མེད་རུང་ སྐྱོ་བའི་ཚིག་ཅིག་སྦེ་ཆ་བཞགཔ་ཨིན། ཨ་ལོའི་གླུ་གཞས་འདི་ སེམས་སྐྱོ་བའི་གནས་སྟངས་ཅིག་ནང་མ་གཏོགས་ གླུ་གཞས་ གཞན་བཟུམ་སྦེ་ ལེའུ་རྒྱུག་ནི་མེདཔ་ཨིན།
An alo is a sad song or poem unique to eastern districts of Bhutan. Herders sing alo to express loneliness and melancholy when they are with their animals. The alo tune is also often played with flutes, and without any singing. Neyjur Wangmo from Shumar Gewog sings the “Alo of Dungsam,” or “The Sad Song of Dungsam.”

- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་ཚེ་སྔོན་ལ་མ་དག་བུ་མོ། །Ae! [I] even suffered from impurity in the past life.
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་་མ་དག་ལ་འཁོར་བ་ལ་རང་གཞིན། །Ae! Impurity is nature of samsara.
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་་སྤང་སྨད་ལ་ཤ་བ་ཨིནམ་པ་ཅིན། །Ae! If [I] were stag of lower grassland
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་སྤང་སྟོད་ལ་བསྐོར་བཅུག་ལ་ལུས་ལུ། །Ae! Let the upper grassland surrounds [me].
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་་ཆུའི་ལ་ཉ་གཅིག་ཨིནམ་པ་ཅིན། །Ae! If [I] were a fish in the river.
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་མཚོ་སྟོད་ལ་བསྐོར་བཅུག་ལ་ལུས་ལུ། །Ae! Let the lower lake surrounds [me].
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་ཆུ་མོ་ལ་རྐྱང་རྐྱང་ཨིནམ་པ་ཅིན། །Ae! If [I] were swiping river.
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་རྒྱ་གཞི་ལ་བསྐོར་བཅུག་ལ་ལུས་ལུ། །Ae! Let the large Indian agricultural land surrounds [me].
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་་ཁྲི་གདུགས་ལ་ཉི་མ་ཨིནམ་པ་ཅིན། །Ae! If [I] were the moon in the sky.
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་གླིང་གཞི་ལ་བསྐོར་བཅུག་ལ་ལུས་ལུ། །Ae! Let the four continents surrounds [me].
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་སྤྲང་མོ་ལ་མི་བཞུགས་བསྐོར་བ། །Ae! [I am] not going to stay, i want to roam.
- རྣལ་འབྱོར་དབང་མོ་ཨའེ་་་ལུས་ན་ཚ་ལ་མེད་ན་ལ་དགའ་ཚོར། །Ae! [I] hope to be happy without disease in [my] body.
