A Bhutanese culture of naming place has got its own meaning depending on the incident happened in an area nature of its location. Similarly, an account of Kharmi village was besed on its location and it is commonly known as Changmi today. In the early time, a great prince of Tibet called Lhasey Tshangma who came to Trsahigang and resided at a place called Rakha, just above Kharmi village. Initally it was called as Kharmed (lower residence) because the place was just below the residence of Lhasey Rinpoche but later due to passage of time, people called also called as Kharmi.
