Tsampa from Ketokha village in Bongo Gewog (county) in Chukha district, speaks on how the ritual called 'Lhasol' came into existence in his village and the changes made while performing this ritual. He says that the first master to present the ritual was originally from the Thimphu Pangrizampa monastery. He was an attendant of Zhabdrung who later came to Chukha district and was sponsored by the aristocratic Jangtsap family from Damji village. After the master's death, several other masters replaced him and since Tsampa's great grandfather was from that village (Damji), he was the one to introduce the ritual in his own village (Ketokha). It is said that the ritual was based on the practice of Bonism (a Tibetan pre-Buddhist naturalistic religion), they had to sacrifice many animals during the auspicious days such as the 15th day of specific months. Later a lama called Pagap Lam Tshering Dorji stopped the practice as killing is completely in breach of the religious laws. Since 1998 the ritual is performed by offering cheese.
