Retrosplenial cortex

The retrosplenial cortex is composed of the cortical Brodmann areas 29 and 30 and plays a role in learning and navigation. It is located behind the splenium, which is the posterior part of the corpus callosum. However, the size of the area varies among species and the function is not well understood. The connections are conserved among mammals which include reciprocal connections with thalamic nuclei and hippocampus.
